Hello everyone. I hope all is well with everyone. I've lost 25 lbs. now. Boy does it seem like its only a little bit at a time. I guess I thought that when I changed my eating habits that the weight would just fall off. I guess not. But my doc says I am doing really well. I guess I'll just listen to him. He knows best.

I was banded on Halloween so I guess that makes me a smashing pumpkin also. I have lost 22 lbs. I go for my first fill on December 9th. I am exercising 5 days a week for 30 to 35 minutes by treadmill 2.5 mph. I am glad I found the October 2008 bandsters!

Welcome to the Smashing Pumpkins!

Hi Cyndi! Everything I've read said this is the way to go. It took awhile to put on, it will take awhile to come off. Besides, the skin will have a better chance of recovering if it's a slow loss--and that's what I want! I've lost ALMOST 24 lbs now but I've got TWO Thanksgiving dinners coming up. Of course, I'm exercising at least 5/7 days and even doing a two mile walk with dh on Thanksgiving morning! :smile2:

Nazzy--that sounds like a great idea in general...but maybe not right now for me. My life is SO crazy right now I'm not sure I have the energy for a new project...but maybe later!

Everyone--let's keep it up! Have a HEALTHY holiday this year!

I have a question for all of you. How many calories are you getting daily (average) and how many calories are you working off weekly.

I find that I average maybe 1000 calories and I work off 300 calories for 30 minutes of eliptial work (appox. according tothe machine) 3-5 days weekly and starting to do some weights. I watch my nutrients and I need to work on my Fiber and Water intake. I need to increase both of those.

So for a week I take in about 7000 calories and burn off at least 900-1500 on purpose.

What about all of you? I think I have cut my calories by about 10,000/week. :)

I have a question for all of you. How many calories are you getting daily (average) and how many calories are you working off weekly.

No one told me there was going to be math!

Actually, I do track my calories fairly strictly on Sparkpeople.com and usually do around 1,000 a day. I'm too chicken to figure out how many calories I used to eat a day - that would be seriously scary!

I haven't tried tracking the calories I burn off, but I do go to the gym 3-4 times a week and do 30-45 minutes of cardio (treadmill and elliptical) and about 15-20 minutes of strength. Today I'm thinking of trying something different - I'm taking my daughter & nephew skating - wonder if I can get up on roller skates yet?

Everyone have a great holiday!

Hi everyone,

Ok so I am obsessed with the gym. I went seven days straight and in those days I lost about seven pounds. Today I decided to take a day off and feel a little guilty but I know I need to rest my body. So now I am down 52 pounds since surgery on 10/08/08 :)

I am soo happy to be near my first goal of 230 :crying: Thank you everyone for all your support!

52 Pounds! That is so great! I have not been working out as much as I should. I walk 3 times per week, 4 miles.

I could do more, I have a treadmill at home!

Keep up the good work!:)

I have to share this with someone and thought it might bring encouragement to you all as we go through the holidays!

I was worried about Thanksgiving but made it a point to get up that morning (actually I was still up as I work nights and didn't go to bed) and walked a little over two miles in the cold sunshine. I went home and prepared my part of the "feast" and then went to my mom's house. I ate everything I wanted...just small amounts and spent more time TALKING than EATING! The next day...I lost a pound! :cursing:

Fast forward two days and it was time for Thanksgiving day #2 at my in-laws. Again, I went out in the morning and hiked with my friend (cold day--sunny) probably about two miles but I don't know as we were in the woods. Finished the prep and then went to dinner. I ate what I wanted (including DRESSING and an iced sugar cookie) and weighed today...I lost TWO more pounds! :blushing:

I really think my gym time is catching up as building muscle increases metabolism. Just an idea to help us get through! Focus on exercise and enjoying the company more than the food!

Happy Holidays!

~~anne

P.S. My first fill is Monday!

LoveIsLovely--you ARE obsessed! :cursing: You're right, taking a day off occasionally is a good thing. I think I usually take 1-2 days off exercise a week.

WTG everyone!

Hi all -

Hope everyone did great at Thanksgiving. I didn't do wonderfully, but did okay. Hit the gym Thanksgiving morning then did my cooking and we headed to the parents' place. Friday we did so much walking while shopping I didn't feel in the least bit guilty about not getting to the gym or what have you.

I have to admit that I haven't been feeling great lately. I took my blood sugar this morning and it was down at 60. Bit low. I am beginning to wonder if the change in diet and exercise is affecting my diabetes already. I had expected it to eventually - just not so soon. I'm going to have to start taking my sugars more often and then I guess it's time to call my g.p. to adjust my meds.

My second fill is a week from Wednesday. Time flies!

Karen how are you doing?

I have a Thursday appt with my g.p. and then with the fill clinic a week from tomorrow.

My sugars have been a little more stable and not as low as that last one - averaging 80-100. Still feeling a little jittery - sort of like you do when you've had too much caffeine.

Hopefully between the two we'll get it straightened out soon. In the meantime, I'll just keep poking my fingers more and try to keep it steady myself.

Well for the first time since starting my pre-op diet I only lost 1 lbs last week. I am okay with that. It was Thanksgiving and I went to a dinner theatre with some friends. I didn't have alcohol, any desert and I even stayed away from the potatoes and rice that were on the buffet.

I know! The dreaded buffet. It is like a dinner table from hell! I did eat too much. I don't have any restriction. I ate small bites and chewed....but I can't wat for my first fill on Friday.

3 MORE DAYS!!!!

Going to the gym is getting easier. I don't know how I am going to make it through the next 6 months. My classes are killing me and add to that my job, kids, husband and the gym. Well I am kind of stressed. I better go. Have a great rest of week. Doesn't it seem like our boards for Smashing Pumpkins are kind of slow? Well I know you are still out there. Take care and keep us posted!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
