Renita,

omg lmao!!!!! I know you meant to write turn red instead of turd red, but that seriously made me laugh out loud:biggrin:

My incesisions are pretty red and raw too....I actually found that sleeping on my belly and putting some pressure on them can temporarily relieve the itching feeling.

Let me know how it goes on Monday.

:tongue_smilie: Cattoy...I didn't even realize the typo until you mentioned it and I re-read my post ..lol..glad you got a laugh..It was probably a subliminal message..feeling pretty "turdy" at that point I remember.

Actually, the redness and all has gone and I am not even two weeks out yet.

I feel much better although I don't have any restriction right now, can't wait until my first fill..hopefully that will help me with at least a little restriction...isn't until Nov 21 though.

Renita

Has everyone every heard/tried the liquid protien? My nutritionist gave me a sample. Two TSB equals 15 grams of protien.!I'm wondering if it's worth getting for after surgery or if I should just stick with shakes. Best wishes everyone!

Hey sweepyxx--thinking about you today and wishing you the best! Let us know how things go!

rondapooh1--I bought some unflavored powdered Protein at unjury.com. I've tried it in a shake made from SF carnation instant Breakfast so far and in pudding and I couldn't taste it in either. It has 80 calories and 20 grams of protein per serving. I want my hair and nails to stay healthy--so it's worth it to me! Also, I believe it helps with hunger. Another thing, the company is GREAT about getting the product right out and send out "after WLS tips" with your order.

Thanks to Cassie for her recommendation of the book "Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band" by Robert Swell!!

I went to Amazon.com to order it - and Amazon also pointed me to several other really great books on band surgery, and every post-surgery cookbooks... I ordered a few & will post feedback after i read them....

I got home 3 days ago! Had surgery on the 8th of this month, but had to spend some extra time in the hospital because of a fever and my past complications. I'm happy to be home and "eating" again. lol. If you call pudding and pea Soup eating. I bought these tiny little Gladware containers and put my meals in them. With the 6 weeks of Optifast prior to surgery, I lost 35 lbs. before I even got the band! On the day I got out, my total weight loss was 44 lbs. From 280 to 236! WOO HOO! I've gone from a 28 to a 22...too bad my shirt size hasn't changed a bit. 44 lbs. and my chest hasn't shrunk one ounce. :tongue_smilie: Oh well, I guess in a few years when I get the skin removed I can see about breast reduction too. And there will certainly be a lot of extra skin to work on by then. Ugh. I was on prednisone for 10 years, and my skin has lost its elasticity...so I'm looking like a half full hefty bag right about now.

I'm adding Protein Powder to everything I eat, but I eat so little that I also got some of these little things that look like test tubes and have 42 g of Protein each. I'm still gonna buy some Unjury chicken Soup. I got a sample of it and it's pretty good. Very tasty, and really filling.

Congrats to those that have had their surgery, and good luck to those who will very soon!

Heather

BTW as for the cheating...well, we're all human beings. This is a habit most of us have had for our entire lives. We can't expect to just drop it like it's nothing. Quitting overeating is like quitting anything else bad for us that we are addicted to. I had 6 weeks of Optifast...and nothing else. And I replaced 2 of those shakes with dry turkey wheat wraps. The key is to not beat yourself up about it and just take it as a slip up and move on. :tt1: I had my surgery on the 8th of this month....and for the last 2 months all I can think about is FRIED CHICKEN!!!!! lol.

My surgery is Monday and I'm more or less ready.

No pre-op diet, except for tomorrow...light breakfast and then clear liquids...report to hospital at 7 AM, I'm the second procedure; out-patient, so I hope to be home by early afternoon.

For those who think that "only" 50 or 70 pounds to lose is not much, think again! It's like carrying around a big sack of dog food! Really a big burden, which I am very very ready to give up.

My doctor is very handsome (smile) and seems much younger than his 46 years. I asked for a modification of the basic terms for self pay, which included just 4 fills the first year. He was very nice about providing 2 years of fills in the price, which was $15.5.

I've gone to therapists and all the rest (phen fen, Optifast, weight watchers, etc. etc.) and this will turn out to be a good personal investment compared to all that I've done before.

Best wishes to everyone! I am hoping for a quick recovery. Anyone find that they could go back to work for a few hours a day after three or four days post surgery?

Birchmoon--I couldn't agree more. I just read a little motivational story using Nastia Luiken as the example (remember her? Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics). Anyway, the example was that she came out right off and did a perfect routine--and then fell. She didn't give up. She kept right on competing and ended up with a gold medal before it was over! As I enjoyed watching them this year, it really hit home for me. I'm sorry about your complications but :w00t: on the weight loss! Wow!
Anyone find that they could go back to work for a few hours a day after three or four days post surgery?
Taosgal--I have to go back five days post-op for a full shift (I'm only on-call but the potential is there for 8 hours). From what I've read, it's doable. I think we just have to be sure and REST when we are at home and no overdo when we work.

This is a good time to wish all the best to: nazzy; Ruby124; LynnN; Soupamom; taosgal; karook54; GratefulHeart! I know you will all do great and know we are thinking about you and praying for you!

I had my surgery on Tuesday morning. I felt well enough to go to my 3 hour receptionist position by Friday. However they had no clients coming in that evening so I did not need to go. You should be fine, perhaps still a bit sore and tired but haven't we all worked that way at some time or another?

WOW! It is getting late today while I watch the baseball game and it is almost Sunday. Getting banded on the 21st!!! I am on a 1000 calorie diet for surgery which means I can eat, just not alot. I went out to eat for my "last meal" I really wanted steak since it may be the last time eating it. Depending on what my body decides it can eat.

I am really excited...I have waited so long for this and I am ready. I know there are a few getting banded on Tuesday 21st..Good Luck to all!:w00t:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
