Is anyone else having difficulties removing all of the tape residue from the bandages on surgery day? I was banded August 5th, removed my bandages the next day and I was COVERED in leftover tape residue. I used the lotion they gave me to remove everything, and while it removed the iodine stains, it did nothing for the tape residue. I have been trying every day since to remove it. It's coming off little by little, but I still have a significant amount left and it's (or my removal attempts) are starting to irritate my skin.

:confused2: Here's what I've tried so far:

1) Warm and/or Cold water used with a wash cloth, or paper towels.

2) Lotion

3) Soap and water

4) Nail Polish Remover (I kid you not, a nurse at the dr's office suggested this - but of course I was very sparing in using this so as to avoid the incisions)

5) My finger nails (this has worked the best, but it's very tedious and irritates my skin)

Anyone have any other ideas for me?!?!?!

On another post, I read that someone used an eraser and it took it off really quick!

Baby oil. apply with cotton ball and let sit for a bit then rub right off.

I second the baby oil works a treat.

what type lotion did u use for the iodine. I didnt get any and my whole belly is yellow from it. I dont know how to get it off.

I think you might be trying too hard.

The glue shouldn't cause any harm but the various methods being used to get the glue off, which are causing skin irritation, are probably not helping the healing process. A couple days of tape residue are worth a lifetime of minimized scarring.

Time will definitely make it come off with minimal skin irritation. After all, you will be shedding skin cells over time and most of it will come off easily in the shower.

Pure Acetone...one swip and its gone!

***UPDATE*** Of everything I tried, the baby oil really did seem to work best!

Oh and by the way I guess I lucked out there were no bandages for me, or stitches, they just GLUED me shut, I was banded on the 14 and the wounds are looking great.

I'm so glad to find this post! Tomorrow I'm on the prowl for baby oil!

I used eye makeup remover, its just like baby oil, it didn't come off right away i just dabbed on, and let it sit for a few minutes, when i took a shower and used my soap to wash off, it came off so easily.
