Is anyone NOT exercising???

I rode the stationary bike at work yesterday. And I didn't die!! :tt2:

Well, I'm glad. It would have been quite unfortunate if you did.

Sometimes around 14 or 15 laps in that big pool at the gym I feel like I might die, but I don't. I'm glad about that too.

I manage to walk up and down a big mountain (that I live on top of.. ) so lots of ups (and they are really steep ups).. and downs.. would always take the golf cart before.. but now I see them as a challenge. I just put my head down and march up them!...

... heart pounds like a son of a cow.. and my breathing gets really shallow to the point I think I can't breathe in any deeper..

.. but hey! I haven't dropped dead yet!!... I must add I only do this two or three times a week. I do a lovely NY Ballet dvd the other days. Well I can imagine I am graceful in the privacy of my own room! ha.

Ahhhh.....but how do we know you didn't? This could well be Mr. Mac, who rigged the stationary bike to explode in a pathetic bid to collect on the secret life insurance policy he took out. Or maybe it really is you, Mac.

For that matter Plain, how do we know you are you? Perhaps the change in avatar was the sub-conscious revealing that you (whoever you are) have taken over the 'Plain' ID....mwah ha ha (read sinisterly)

I've only read about half of this thread so if this has been said, sorry I'm repeating it. If you are using your CPAP machine and are still so tired, maybe you need the level adjusted. You should call your doctor, but another sleep study may be required. If you're not using the machine because of the mask, there are many different masks. Call your provider and get them to let you try several different masks. They should be able to look at the shape of your face and make recommendations. The headgear for the various masks make a difference too. Make the most of your equipment, it really does make a difference in your energy or maybe in the beginning just your ability to think clearly.

If you are getting out on short 10-15 minute walks, that is better than nothing. I understand your desire to want that hour sweat, but start somewhere and be very proud of those little accomplishments. Do something - anything and move from there. It will come if you keep at it.

KD8888 that was a very thoughtful reply, hopefully she gets a chance to read it. I just wanted to tell you that sometimes it is so refreshing to compassion, it always makes me happy. Thanks for posting.

I myself don't know much about her condition, my grandmother had it, but she got it under control. And she lost a lot of weight on weight watchers which got the weight off her chest and helped her sleep without the machine she had to use.

I just wanted to say thanks.

I would like to know if you are using a CPAP or have seen a sleep doctor. I made a world of difference in my life to use my CPAP for two years. I understand that I may be able to not use it someday but it has changed my life so much.

You will feel better if you move around. Start with something very simple like walking around the living room during commercials or putting on some great music when you do housework. I call it aeorbic housecleaning.

You can move a little today, a little tommorow.

Well, I'm only 10 days post-op so I'll be the first to admit that I haven't started exercising yet. I try to do at least 1 thing I don't want to do though before resting for the night. Wash the dishes in the sink, Water the yard (by hand), sweep the floor, spray down the patio etc. Maybe if you start small like that and increase a little each day instead of trying to jump start your exercise regimine. (I too have sleep apnea)

Let me give you an example of what I learned (many moons ago) in basic training.

We exercised for 30 minutes to start, but 10 reps of each exercise.

10 sit ups, 10 jumping jacks, 10 toe touches etc. Even if you start at 5 reps and 15 minutes to start... just make an effort to start.

Start yourself slow and 2-3 times a week... then when you feel you have it down, then increase by another day.

I was already walking 30 minutes on day 4 post-surgery and every other day, but I walked slow, not power walking or anything! :thumbup:

My main goal for exercising is 'allegedly' it helps reduce the amount of sagging skin; if you do it from the beginning and don't try to crash diet. This according to my doctor.

The stationary bike was at the gym at work and you need a key card to get into it.

But my Wii Fit finally arrived so Mr. Mac could rig that. He'd need to be careful though because he's got a Wii Mii in the Wii Fit Plaza so he might explode himself!

People of all sizes have sleep apnea it's not just something that affects people of a larger size.

I believe you. I'm just noting that when my grandma lost 50 lbs her sleep apnea was no longer a problem and she was able to sleep with out a machine.

sleep Apnea, like type 2 diabetes does effect people of all sizes that is true.

However if the person is obese or overweight, losing weight can and often does lessen the symptoms.

Before I got the band I was taking meds for diabetes and high cholesterol. After losing weight with the band, sensible eating and daily exercise, I am off all meds and I am no longer considered diabetic.

During my pre-op for the band, I had to do a sleep study. It showed that I had moderate sleep apnea. My GP said, "don't bother getting a Cpap machine, it is likely that the sleep apnea is caused by the weight in your neck and chest, when you start losing weight, you will be fine"

Happy to report that thanks to the band, I no longer have sleep

apnea.

I am sure the OP will notice an increase in energy levels, as she starts to lose weight, I hope she is fortunate enough to overcome sleep apnea through weight loss.

My friend, Patty, and I had the surgery the same day. She was just before me. Bottom line is that she doesn't exercise and she has lost 65 pounds (since Feb 18), I EXERCISE and I have lost 108. So, if you want to lose and more importantly if you want your skin to tighten AS you lose..do the exercise. Honestly, you will feel better and after while it will become a HABIT. Take care and hang in there. D.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
