Do You Always Feel The Band?

Recommended Posts

I'm just curious if I will always "feel" the band and know it is there or does that feeling go away in time?

Do you get used to it and come to not even notice? Also, do you feel like you have an object in your stomach where the port/band is?

TIA

I can't feel my band, but I do feel the port, and since I have lost a fair amount of weight it is a little more prominent. For me that is a very small price to pay. I have never been succesful at any other attempt to lose weight. I just got my first bloodwork back, and my cholesterol numbers look so good I think I was born with higher numbers! I see my doc tomorrow to see if I can stop the cholesterol meds. Got my fingers crossed.

Hello there... I was banded on 7/2/08 and I felt the band for about three and a half weeks, and then magically one day I couldn't really feel it any more. I do feel the port still, but like Patchelton, I think its going to be a small price to pay. I got my first fill this past monday, and felt the band monday evening and some of tuesday, but don't again today. I am so amazingly happy to have done this for myself... every day it just gets better and better! Good luck and happiness to all!

I don't ever feel my band. My doctor did show me how where to touch if I wanted to feel the tube.. I wasn't interested haha.

i don't think i ever actually felt the band itself. I feel the port of course and even 18 months out I still run my hand over it without thinking about it. Weird I know.

I can feel my band. It's up under my ribs, but I can feel it on occasion. It bumps into my ribs. If I slouch in a chair for a long period of time, I can feel it. Sometimes I will get a dull ache where my band is located. It's not all the time, and for the most part, I can't feel it, but every once in a while it will give me fits. I can feel my port with my hand all the time. If I do a really hard ab workout, the muscles around it will get a little sore.

I can't feel my band at all, and I don't feel my port either. If it weren't for the incisions and the weight loss, I wouldn't really believe I'd been banded!

I was banded just 10 days ago. The feeling I have is one of tightness in my chest, and almost like I want to burp. I'm told that will go away.

It's 3 weeks for me and I feel the band in the same way that Aubrie says she does. I'm hoping over time I will not feel it but then again maybe it's good to feel it as a constant reminder to not stray too far off the path we've chosen.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
