Diva, the paranoia isn't going away for me!!

That's what I bought the heart doppler.. once I was into 2nd trimester, still scared, now I'm 2 days past 20 weeks and I should be feeling it but don't, so now I worry that it doesn't have legs or something (I know, I'm weird). The heart doppler says it's fine, but I have so many 'what ifs' in my brain.

I went to lunch with my friend who has a 7 month old yesterday and we were talking about the paranoia. She says even though now he's a happy healthy baby, she's worried he might get autism.

i dont think the paranoia ends... i still get paranoid...

FF - i didnt feel until i hit 21 weeks on the nose... try not to worry.... on your doppler you should be able to hear him/her (gender yet??) move. its very distinct... almost like a 'swish'... maybe when you have your next OB appt, you can ask your OB if she can point it out for you.

i hit 30 weeks today and just cannot believe i have 10 or fewer weeks to go... SOOOOOOOOOO much to do!! GAHHHH!!!

I find out the gender Thursday, very excited.. and hoping to see 2 arms, 2 legs, etc.. and maybe just lots of padding on my end that is keeping me from feeling him/her!

I actually haven't told my obgyn I got the fetal monitor, just because some websites I read it says certain doctors discourage the use of them at home.. and I don't want the doc saying 'don't use it' and my hubby will be there this visit and if he heard 'don't use it' then he'll tell me not to use it, etc.. so..

I have heard swishing, and when I listen to the heart, I can definitely tell it's on the move.. does not like my heart doppler wand.. I'll find the beat loud and steady, then some shuffling and it's gone.. then it's faint, then shuffling and it's loud again.

Time is flying for other people pregnant, can't believe Wheet had her daughter already and you're only 10 weeks away!!

I on the other hand, have FOREVER TO GO.

no, you dont have forever ...

you are 1/2 way there! use this time to prepare everything... wish i would have started sooner.

i think the reason docs dont like people to use at home dopplers is because if you dont hear the HB, you freak (I DID!!) and they can hide really well and 'dig deep' inside your uterus.

a tip that may help you feel some movement... drink a BIG glass of OJ - more than 10-12 ounces... gulp it if you can. then lay down in on couch or bed on your LEFT side (they like it - right side interferes with a nerve or something??)... try to be as still as possible... i tend to kinda roll up in a ball and scrunch my tummy a bit.

the first few movements kinda feel like fingers lightly tapping from the inside out...

good luck!

Hi guys! Babyfever, i'm so very glad you're home and safe, i'm sorry you're sore! I didn't wanna say anything before you had your surgery for fear of scaring you, but i had a rough recovery. The first 2 days were very painful, stiff, gassy, etc. Not like most people who have the band and are up, walking around in 12 hours...i had to be admitted overnight and was pretty rough. By end of day 3, was feeling more like myself, but i think everyone goes thru that "what was i thinking?!" phase. Don't worry, it passes and then you lose tons of weight and get preg and so on!!

Fairy and losing,

i think the paranoia is normal, just wish it would end...all the books and sites state that chances of miscarriage go down by a huge amount once you can hear the heartbeat at 8 weeks and further are reduced to almost nothing by the 12th week, so i'm just trying to get there. I think it's a welcome to being a parent...all this worry. Time certainly has flown so far, so that's good! I was 3 wks preg when i found out, now entering my 6th wk. I know that i have forever to go, but i'm still thrilled.

By the way, i'm due august 3rd...when is everyone due?

I'm due April 23 going off of first date of last period, but at my first ultrasound my gyno kept saying "Are you sure?" and when I said yeah she said "OK I guess that's what we'll go off of" and they changed my chart, which means my ultrasound said I was either less or farther along, but she didn't tell me which way.

really? that's bizarre... they changed MY due date (from LMP) to the size of him.... i went in thinking i was 8 weeks when, based on size, i was 6w3-4days.... and he's been measuring consistently with my new due date...

i'm due February 13th ... only 68 days to go... GAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So I just want to say...thanks for starting this thread and CONGRATS!!!!! to all of you that get to start or continue your families. To everyone else trying, a BIG good luck, and I am right here with you.

I was banded 3 months ago and I am so happy with all of my progress. My reason for getting banded was so (Hopefully) one day I could have children. My husband and I have never NOT tried to get preg. But, we have a lots of issues. I was finaly told by my GYN that I have PCOS, so that took us through Clomid and Metformin. Neither one of them working. All I got out of it was curly hair. All my life I have had stick straight hair and after the Clomid, it started to grow in curly, only the top layer thought... Well, now I do everything I can to keep it straight, go figure.

Well, back to the babies. I, and my husband, can not wait til we are able to "mold something of our own" I keep telling myself that I want to wait a year and loose as much weight as I can, but I am starting to get impatiance. Even my and my husbands family's are starting to contantly ask, "When do we get a grandbaby?" I want to throw them through a window. They act as though we arn't even trying. It's really hard to try not to think about it when it's coming from all sides...

But, we do try, we try as much as possible...

Well, good luck to all of you...

I knew exactly what the date of my last period was because I charted every day, every test, etc. When I went for my first ultrasound, they measured the size at 10 days younger and gave me a new expected due date. However, they kept all the charts from my LMP due date.

I have personally gone with my revised ultrasound due date because I would rather think I have less time to go when he comes even though my charts say different. I would hate to hit my original due date and spend 10 extra days waiting, and waiting, and waiting for "the day."

My due date (June 26) was also determined by ultrasound. That's all my doctor goes by because of late ovulations and stuff. When I got pregnant with my DD, I hadn't had a period since early May, found out I was pregnant in late July. I hadn't thought anything of no period because I have PCOS and never had them spontaneously. I could've been anywhere from like 4-12 weeks. I was 5 1/2 weeks by ultrasound so I came up with an LMP that corresponded because that's what you're always asked.

I'd go by the ultrasound due date because if you ovulated late, they might think you are overdue when you aren't actually due yet. It allows the baby more time to cook.

Boy :wink2:

And he has all his body parts! And he was wiggling and kicking the whole time. So the lack of feeling anything isn't from him not trying!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
