How much are you eating one week post-op??

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much for that info. I bought some unjury on line but when I'm feeling up to the long trip I will definetly go to GNC and look into that!

Tina

It WAS fun while it lasted. Like you, I have had restriction from day one. I still cannot eat more than a few ounces of food at a time, and I monitor everything very closely, and was losing very fast. But a week ago, it stopped. The scale and the tape measure say nothing has changed for a week. I know it's normal, but it's ANNOYING!

I'll just keep plugging away...and I know it will start up again, but in the meantime, I'm having a hard time keeping my positive attitude!

MyMeshelle....I am an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner. I do not like to bash anyone in the medical industry however you should not for any reason reduce your calories below 1800 if you are breast feeding because you burn about 500 extra calories a day nursing alone. If you are not breast feeding you can keep your calories safely between 1000-1200 and still lose weight. You just had a baby and it takes several months to get your hormones back in check and to heal.

I have my calories between 1000-1200 and I have lost 7 lbs in the first week after my lap band surgery and my daily caloric intake includes 30% carbs (whole wheat and grains) and 60-80g Protein. You will get your energy back in two days if you increase your caloric intake. Yes, you will lose weight quickly in the beginning with 350 calories a day but after 4-8 weeks your body will lower its metabolism so it will burn less and ration the very little calories you are taking in thus you your weight loss will slow drastically and it will take your body many month after you increase your food intake to raise your metabolism again to burn fat.

Please increase your calories, you are a new mother and you probably do not get much sleep and your calories are dangerously low. You are "burning the candle at both ends". Trust me, you will lose weight with 1200< daily if you keep the carbs below 30% and your Protein is at 60-80g. Good luck, I am worried about you.

I wish i would of known this! Maybe my milk would not of dried up... I am no longer breastfeeding cuz i have no milk  Thanks for the advice... i really am not sure why they have me on such little calories... I start back to work tomorrow and im scared to go cuz i feel so awful and weak... i am a dental assistant and i have to work in peoples mouths... i dont wanna hurt anyone!

How much Water are you drinking in a day? That will help with the hunger. I'm supposed to have 64 ounces of Fluid a day and that can be Protein wather, popsicles, Jello, but I've not felt like having anything but water.

And, you have about twice the quantity that my doc allows. I only have 1/4 cup of 'food' when I eat, and that three times a day (so I get 12 ozs of Soup or cream of wheat or yogurt a day) but I can have 8 oz of Protein Drink between meals. Both have to be consumed slowly...especially the 8 oz...too fast and it hurts.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
