Just wanted to let everyone know I got a date for my surgery. August 5th is my new birthday..........I am so excited. Start my pre-op diet on Monday and he suggested the slim fast shakes. Any suggestions that will help me not get bored on my liquid diet? ??

I was on the slimfast shake diet for 2 weeks before banding. My advice is try all the different flavors! I found out after a week of drinking the chocolate ones that I really liked the strawberry ones! It seems crazy that you can live off slimfast but stick with it...its worth it in the end! I was banded on May 27th 2008.

I just went to the store to pick up my liquids. . . this is what I purchased:

Butternut squash Soup

sugar free Orange Jello

V8 Spalsh, Light in strawberry banana

Organic chicken broth

Gatorade

Crystal Light (not really nutritious--but darn good!)

sugar free syrups to put in my Protein shakes--orange and raspberry

Decaf instant coffee

Make sure you look at the calories and carbs. 8oz for 110 cal or 8oz for 50 cal makes a big difference!! Also, might not be a bad idea to ask your dietitian how many calories a day they would like you to be drinking. Make sure you down the Protein first!!

I know that once I start the liquid thing (which I don't have to do until 1 day before surgery), I will probably get more creative.

Best wishes to you!!!

You forgot to get yourself some sugar free popcycles. Great since it's summer time. Also my doctor and nutritionist said crystal light counts as Water and is ok to have.

I'm new to this board, but I too have and Aug date. My bbf and I will be banded Aug 20 and 21 respectively. She will be using ins and I am self pay, I have to talk to the Dr again since we are getting different pre op instructions. She has about 20 lbs to go and me 60.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
