Hey folks, nice to meet all of you. This is a pretty cool site, and the format works great.

Well, I am 25, live in Miami. I am 5'10" and currently weigh about 280(probably more). I have been scheduled for surgery for August 29th. My insurance paperwork is all being processed, now it's the all so PITA waiting game. My doctor is Samuel Szomstein in Cleveland Clinic in Weston Florida. They do both RNY and Lapband, and he suggested lapband for me due to my stats.

I really hope this comes through soon, I am so anxious to know whether I have to fight, or if my date is good.

Either way, good luck to all of you!!!

GO DOLPHINS!!!:(

Hi JC,

You aren't by chance a dolphin fan are you? :(

Anyhoo, I also had my surgery done at Cleveland Clinic before they moved to their new fancy digs and poor Dr. Rosenthal was the only surgeon in the practice. I love, love, love the doctors in the practice, but really have a hard time finding warm and fuzzy feelings for the other girls in the office. I actually just got off the phone with Carol not to long ago...PITA!

Congratulations on your decision and good luck!

Hey guys, I just got my letter from the insurance. APPROVED!! They are paying 90%. I am waiting now for a response from my secondary insurance from my wife's company, if they approve it, they'll cover the out of pocket which is around $1500 they told me. So now I am officially 17 days pre-op. Kind of weird feeling. I was indifferent to the whole thing, but once I got the approval from the insurance, reality hit me. I know I want this, just that things start flying throuhg my mind. Oh yeah, not to mention that my bodies knows what is coming, so I am eating like a horse on steroids. My wife wants to take me out to all my favorite restaurants this week, so I can enjoy splurging a few last times. SCARY & EXCITING!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
