DFW, Texas - Band Buddy Wanted!!

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm going through the process of getting banded. I have had my initial consult with Dr. Ferrara, and my nutrition meeting. I have my phych eval tomorrow and hopefully will be scheduling my surgery for August or September.

A little about me...I'm 5'5 and about 225 pounds. I want to lose at least 80 pounds. I'm married with 4 kids (just in case you didn't get that from my user name smile.gif). I don't have the spousal support for the surgery, so I'm hoping to find a friend that would help me through it. This site has been great but wanted someone locally to talk to in person (lunch visits, phone, email, whatever). Would like buddies that have been there done that...and someone going through the motions now like me.

Thanks so much!!

They got us in FAST. I think it was because we were self-pay. I called a couple of weeks ago just to ask questions and hung up 30 minutes later with all my appointments and a surgery date.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get your date soon! :cursing:

Have you done the pre-op education meeting yet? They give you packets and a sample of your anti-nausea meds and all sorts of info there. It was really helpful.

For the pre-op diet you have two choices. The first is a 2 week, low-carb diet. No breads, Pasta, fried stuff, fruit, etc. Lots of meat. OR, you can do the 1 week liquid diet. We chose the low-carb because we figured we'd get enough of liquids afterwards!

All of that is explained in detail at the pre-op edu meeting and in the packet they give you.

I haven't gone to the support group meetings. I have to work Tuesday nights. I AM going to try to make the first one after my surgery, which I think is August 12th? I'll be off all that week.

Please feel free to message me if there's anything else you'd like to know or if you want to talk more in detail!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
