14 cc Band and still no restriction

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 4/23 and have had 2-1cc fills. My doctor assured me he banded me with no Fluid but when I went for the first fill and they did a fluid check I apparently had 3 cc's in the band already. Asked how that happened and no one could tell me. So now I am up to 5cc's and not feeling any restriction yet. Anyone else have this large of a band, and if so when did you start feeling restriction. I am going on Tuesday the 15th for my 3rd fill, however my doctor seems to be a bit conservative and I am not expecting any more than his usual 1 cc. I appreciate any ones insight, only because my band seems so much bigger than the majority of ever one.

I have a 14cc band. I was banded on May 13th. I had my first fill on June 26th. The PA checked my Fluid level and I was banded with 5cc's in the band. The PA added 2 1/4cc's to the band at that appointment. I have really good restriction right now. I would push for more restriction if I were you.

I've also got the 14c band. i started to feel restriction on my 5th fill - 9cc total. I'm not to my "sweat spot" yet but have my 6th fill next week.

you prolly already know this, but everyone responds differently to fills even if they have the exact same size band filled with the exact same ccs. it's a weird question of anatomy.

i've got a 14 and my band was "primed" with 2ccs at surgery. stayed that way until my first fill. 3 or 4 fills later i'm up to 6ccs and feeling restricted. i eat 3 smallish size meals a day and a snack or two. am rarely hungry in between meals and dropping 1-2 pounds a week. is that a sweet spot? feels like it to me!

again, everyone is different. if your doc is willing and able, you might want to get your next fill under fluoroscopy. it can help the both of you see exactly how much anatomical restriction you're actually at. i had it done and it really helped me visualize what was going on inside me. there was something about seeing the barium fill up my pouch and trickle thru that made clear to me that most of the hunger i was feeling was prolly in my head and not actually my body saying, "feed me!"

good luck. you'll get there.

i was banded with 1 cc...i've had 3 fills...4 cc's, 2 cc's and 2 cc's so i'm up to 9 and am finally feeling restriction. I can only eat a very small amount. I too was getting quite worried and frustrated. The last time I was there I even asked if anyone had ever got up to 14 and still not felt anything and they assurred me that had never happened to anyone in their office so far...so that made me feel a little bit better. it's been 5 weeks since my last fill and I can't say I will want one anytime soon!

I have a 14 cc band. I was told I had no fill at all at surgery. My first fill was 4 ccs and the second fill was 2.5 ccs so I'm currently at 6.5 ccs. I have very little restriction. I can eat anything I want - including bread, Pasta, steak, etc. My next fill (in four weeks) will be another 2.5 ccs. I'm hopeful that one (at a total of 9 ccs) will get me to a decent level of restriction.

My Dr. told me I have a Lap band standard that takes 12 to 14CC's . I thought Standard was the 10cc...anyway I had 3cc's in my band at surgery and was just filled with 1cc. I have very little restriction (gained two pounds) but when I eat certain foods (like raw carrots) really hurts going down - like swallowing pointy rocks. I go for my next fill in two weeks hopefully that will will be the magic one.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
