Who's Getting Banded in August???

Recommended Posts

Hi! It is totally natural to be scared. I am scared to death. I love food and associate it with all the fun things in life. Just remember why you are doing this and also you can still have good food down the road - just smaller quantities of it. Be scared all you want - you are allowed. :tongue_smilie:

I think were all scared! I LOVE food too!! But, you know what I think? Having a better quality of life, wearing shorts and looking good in them, sitting down and not having a roll stick out, being able to keep up with my kids, feet not hurting, having a regular towel fit all the way around, shopping at any store for clothes, looking better for my husband, feeling more youthful, rolling skating!!, getting a whistle again once in a while.....I think you get my point!LOL Out weighs my favorite meal! Food is just food it's supposed to be like gas for our cars and I'm trying my best retrain my thoughts!!!

jillbeme! We ALL love food, baby! That's how we got in this predicament! LOL! I'm scared too, but honestly, I'm more excited and I can't wait to find out today what my surgery date is. I'm an August All-Star in heart, but if I can get surgery in 2 weeks, I'm going, baby!

If your doc says you don't need a liquid diet preop, be glad. My BMI is 50.1, so I think that's why. Your BMI must be lower.

Food is good, and maybe after you have the band and you recuperate, you can still enjoy many of your old foods that you enjoy now, just not in gallon sizes. LOL! I think the band will remind you to stop. And it's important, I hear, (cuz I'm not an expert) to adhere to the food stages your surgeon gives you (ie, liquid, mushies, etc) so you don't stretch your stomach out prematurely. YOU CAN DO IT!

Couldn't agree with you guys more - lovin' food and having it as a crutch is what brought me to this point too. To help with the pyschological side of why we overeat and eat the wrong things, try checking out "Shrink Yourself" www.shrinkyourself.com" It's not a diet at all, it just gets into the mental reasons WHY we do it to ourselves. It's really helping me with the whole mental side of this before I HAVE to stop. I'm scared too - I love having an ice cold beer on a hot summer day. The thought of giving that up is sad, but then thought of sippin' a Crystal Lite in a bikini top and sexy blue jeans kicks in and sure takes the sorrow away!! WE'RE GONNA BE FINE! More-over... WE ARE GONNA BE GREAT!!!

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE ALL-STARS!!!

Great new Vegasgirl! You're on your way now, the 14th with be here before you know it!

Jillbeme, I don't think one person in this place will deny that they love food. I too love food. I sat up last night dreaming of all the foods I will miss. How sad is that? Lol! But the fact is, as much as love food, I want to control it and stop having it control me.

And yeah I'm scared too. But excited about changing my life (plus all the things cutiew said too! Lol!)

Thanks for the tip about the stars Vegasgirl! I got it in the banner now but I think it may be a tiny bit too big now! Lol! I'm going out now but will fiddle with it some more when I get back.

lellow, it looks great! Good Job!

Skylersmom, thanks, it's so exciting. We adjusted my goal weight to be more realistic, so I have 10 less lbs to lose. Haha! Never been under 200 that I can remember, so it will be a learning experience.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
