Hello all my dear June bugs! I have been A-W-O-L for awhile. So sorry! I have no excuses! I am doing well and am so excited for all your successes! I have been slow in my loss, but I am kind of like the turtle...slow and steady. I have been walking 4 miles per day for the past 8 weeks and can see a significant difference!

Allie: I see you on face book a lot and I am so proud of you! I will keep your safety in my prayers during your coming surgery!

Apples! Always good to see you.... you’re a doll baby! so cute!

Hunzi: I understand about the same 4 lbs... I did that too until I put in the exercise on a daily basis. This 60 year old body doesn’t want to turn loose of that padding! but it is coming off now!

I had to have an un-fill at Easter and my band has not worked at all until this fill I got 2 weeks ago. I got stressed and a nurse practitioner took all the fill out and then put it back very, very slowly. .... but I know it is still working! yeah!!!!!

Angelyco, Lucy, Great, and vzghy so good to see you are all doing so well!

I will try to check back more often and post some new pictures! Love to you all!:tongue2::wub:

CAthyChatts! So good to hear from you! Anxious to see those pics. Last I remember you were entering the dating scene. How's that going?

I had an appt with my lapband doc today. He has told me to quit stressing about the last 7 or so lbs. to consider myself at goal that I looked 'fantastic'. And to remind myself that 'it's okay to be happy about my weight'. I think I spent years in the losing mindset that it's so hard to wrap my mind around the fact that I am very comfortable where I am at. And it's a place that I am maintaining really well. Since July I've been up and down 2 lbs.

Hey there! Cathy- you have been missed on here! I am glad you are doing well. Great- you look great girl, i know it's hard to be happy with the weight but honestly you look fabulous!

Well with all the wonderful support from all of you and some others here on lapbandtalk I found out that I can get a pain pump! I called my doc yesterday and they said that it was available but that it was $450.00 I paid for it right then and there. I have this past week been so freaked out about the pain that I was making myself sick. I threw my back out on Sunday and have been in bed until today. I am on the recliner now. I really believe God is trying to build up my pain tolerance. Which I will be the first to admit I am a big baby when it comes to pain! So in 7 days and a wakeup I will be on my way to a new me! I can't believe I am so close. I keep looking at my pre band pics and can't believe I ever let myself get that big. I am still losing even without trying. With all that has been going on, spraining my ankle, back going out, worrying about surgery I just haven't been focusing on eating. It's crazy that now I have to remember to eat.

I want to thank all of you for all the support you have given me from pre band to now almost to flatlands. What a wonderful thing this lap band is .. it gave me a whole new life. I will be posting post op pics as soon as I can. I might not be on for awhile due to me wanting to be unconsious for the first week lol.

Please remember to thank a Veteran for their service today. I am so proud of my hubby who served 23 years. :tongue_smilie:

Wow Allie, you have lost more than you weigh now. That's amazing. Sounds like the $450 for the pain pump was a wise investment. Can't wait to hear about it.

Thanks for the compliments on how I look. It's just so weird to think I am really at goal! I don't have to lose weight. I've never been able to say that before!

Good to come across your post, Cathy! I had been wondering how you are doing. Thanks for the "doll" compliment but think you are way too kind. I feel wonderful and can run circles around anyone. Will be 54 in a few days and I can honestlly say that I feel younger than I have in 30 yrs.

I do not frequent this thread very often but I do keep up on what is posted. Kind of feel like I have lost touch with the Junies of 2008.

Sounds like your life is a busy one and that you are doing well. Pop in once in awhile. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that you are missed.

Hey everyone! I'm so glad to see some action on this board. Life has been crazy and I've been MIA  Gotta get back to my Junies!! Allie, I pray everything went well and I can't wait to hear/see all about it! I haven't lost a pound since August...I know I need to get back in an exercise routine. Just gotta figure out how to fit it into my schedule. So glad to hear everyone is doing so well! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Good to see everybody doing so well! I had an appointment to get a fill last week, but my car quit on me the day before. Rescheduled for 12/04 ..... Been an eventful month.. for those of you who do not know, our home burned on 10/28 but we are doing well now! Our church, family, and community came together to remind us just how BLESSED WE REALLY ARE and HOW MUCH WE HAVE TO BE THANKFUL FOR! God Bless!

Oh wow Debbie! I am glad you and your family are all o.k. and have the support you need.

Well, I am home and finally on the good side of recovery. I ended up getting a uti that I swear just about killed me. I have all these compression garments on and could not pee and when I did it was a trickle and extremely painful. I started running a fever and hubby freaked. I am on meds and doing much better. I have to say the tummy and boobs feel great the most painful thing was the Lipo of the thighs. I was really surprised this hurt the most. I thought that would be the least painful. I will be posting pics either tonight or tomorrow of my afters.. they might not be that pretty, I am really bruised and swollen but the swelling has come down quite a bit. My hubby loves the new me  I swear I can hear my implants sloshing around when I move.

Weird. I am hoping I can get my drains out on Wednesday when I go to the doc. They are a pain in the butt. I took a shower yesterday and it was glorious. LOL. My hubby came in with me to wash and support me. I am slowly weening of the pain killers and will be glad when I am able to get around without being exhausted. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.. I'm pretty bummed I wont be out with all the other Black Friday shoppers

Back at ya, Allie and Happy Thanksgiving to all the rest of the Junnies.

Allie, took another quick peek at your TT photos. I am just amazed how wonderful you look. So close after surgery and you do not look swollen like most do. Sounds like you are doing great. I admire you for taking the steps you have. Take care of yourself. Don't oerdo today...let the girls (and Danny) do the dishes.

It goes down a little every day but I can feel how much more I have to go, my drains are still filling like crazy, they had slowed but started up again. That is so cool you are going to meet Great! I wish I could go and meet both of you. CT is a little far from SD lol. Enjoy each other and I can hardly wait to see the pics.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
