Happy New Year everyone!!!!

I haven't set up the Nike+ challenge yet. I am going to set it up to start on Manday the 5th. Macmadame may have hers to start then. BTW, you can go ahead and set up an account and then send me your email and Nike+user id and then I can add you to the challenge and you will just start when you get your Nike+.

Anyway, I am going to start it on Monday and it will go for 21 days. Enjoy the weekend everybody!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!

DH, DS and I rang in the new year together. DD is too young and was in bed! We had lots of nibblies... meatballs, shrimp and a really yummy baked brie. I ate a lot, and enjoyed every bite with no guilt. After all, I ran off all the calories!

Today I'm set to run another 3-5 k or so. I'm in a challenge to run a mile today, but I'm going to go longer than that.

Happy New Year friends.

DH and I rang in the New Year watching movies and eating sugar free popsicles. Better boring ol couple!! Exercise is paying off. I lost another pound. 163 now!! I would like to be 159 when I hit the beach in St. Martin Jan 17th!! I don't think I can loss 4 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks - that is alot for me - but I am on a mission. Back with to the gym in the AM.

Kathy- Tuesday is my final round of interviews. I really want this job. Send prayers - Tuesday at 1030AM. This will be the thrid round of interviews - I think I have interviewed with everyone in the center.

I was on the treadmill this morning. Hoping to get rid of a few extra calories from last night. Happy New Year!!! I did not make my 11 minutes, only 7 today. Then ended up doing several short intervals with varying speeds. I'll try again in the morning.

Happy New Year!

We had a pretty boring night at our house, but everyone did stay up until midnight. I hit the road today, ran in the crazy wind! I actually had to stop one time and turn my back until the gust stopped. Going out was into the wind, coming back it was to my back, much easier, but I was so tired I barely made my run!

I will do Wii Fit in the morning, no wind!

WTG everyone on starting the New Year off with fitness!

Lyn... I've got the reminder set in my Blackberry to send happy thoughts and prayers at 10:30am on Tuesday!!! This is going to be your job!!!

Krtork... that sent an absolutely hillarious image to my mind of you battling the wind! Keep it up, you're amazing!

Sugar... great job. You kept at it even though your first interval didn't work out as planned! Good job.

I was only able to run 1.2 miles yesterday. I decided to run at a faster pace rather than longer... so did it at 5.0mph.

Thank you Kathy - I need all the great encouragement that I can get. I feel like I am finally moving forward even though I did not accomplish what I wanted yesterday (11 minutes). I ran 6 mph for a minute a couple times. I could have never done that before.

WTG Sugar!!

Well, I got my booty up and went to the Y this morning! I calibrated my nike+ and did a short run, then I did Zumba. I can surely tell that I haven't exercised in almost 2 months. I feel great though...it's good to be active again!!

Sugar.... 6mph!!!! OMG that's great!

Georgia... Jan 2nd and you're on your way to a fit new year! How did you calibrate your Nike+? I think I might have done it wrong because its showing different distances than my treadmill.

I missed running today. DH and I both had eye doctor appointments, visited his relatives, and then helped decorate for a friends daughter's wedding tomorrow. It is an icy-wintery theme. Just beautiful!!!

I had the most embarassing monet with my trainer the other day. Mind you I have only worked out with this guy a couple of times. He is a very handsome, fit, 6'2" well built African American man. I am a 50 year old 5'2" white women. He had me lay on my back and hold his ankles. He held his hands out straight and I am suppose to lift my butt off the ground and hit his hands with my feet. Except the frist time I did it my feet went right to his crotch and I actually levitated him. I could have died!!! Well it was a nice ice breaker to say the least!!!

So this morning he says, :Let's do butt lifts" I said "ok, it's your funeral" He said he would move his hands out away from his body!!!

Anyway, one thing he has me do that I haven't done before and it is a very intense calorie burner and I thought you might lie to try.

when you run, try to kick yourself in the butt then bring your knees up in the front as high as you can. YIKES, I can do it too long, but it really works the hamstrings and behind and legs.

I think I went to settings, then sensor, then calibrate. I calibrated a walk and then a run. I selected to calibrate a .25 mile walk and run. After doing that, I did a short run and it was right on the money with the treadmill distance.

Do you put the sensor inside your shoe or do you use the shoe pouch? I'm using the shoe pouch until I buy new shoes. It seems to be working okay.

Okay girls, I can't seem to get that 11 minutes. So I did a few short fast intervals then onto the elliptical for a bit and back onto the treadmill for some walking incline intervals. I figure if I can't make 11 minutes, I surely am not going to give in. I planned on burning some calories and I accomplished that.

My 10 minute run was earlier in the morning. The last two times were later in the morning. Timing may play a part in it. Oh well, I figure I am starting the year out right by exercising.

It is a beautiful winter day for a wedding. I still have to wrap their gift!!!

Have a great day!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
