I am so excited ya'll!! I officially graduated the C25k program!!! I RAN THE ENTIRE 5K TODAY!!! I think not running Saturday and Sunday helped because Friday I could only go 30 minutes. My plan was to run 31 minutes and when the timer showed 31 minutes, I looked at my distance and thought....I have less than a mile to go...I can do this!! Well, I kept going and I made it!! It took me 41:24. Whooo Hooooo!

aclubb~ WTG on your 5K! That's a great time too!!

Kathy~ You can't hear me, but I'm shouting congratulations to you! I'm sooooo happy for you! You deserve this job and I know you are going to do a wonderful job for the company!! Whooo Hooooo!!

What a great day for everyone!!!

Congrats Aclubb!!! That's awesome!

You too Kathy! I'm so happy for you.

Lyn - sorry about your race, but your sweet granddaughter is right, there will be more.

I did a 5K this morning on the treadmill. I've been doing faster intervals to increase my endurance. I did 7.0 today for 30-45 sec intervals then back down to 6 or 5 depending on how I was feeling. I am amazed at how much better my cardiovascular endurance is now. It takes longer to get my heart rate up, but on the flip-side it returns to normal a lot faster! It feels so good not to be huffing and puffing when going up steps or whatever. Feeling healthy has to be the best NSV ever!!

I hope you all have a great day!!

Bea... excellent speed! You're going to be so fast you'll be a blurrr going by! Keep it up. I agree with the NSV... the energy and non-huffing is so great!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GEORGIA girl!!!!!

THats freaky fantastic!!!!!

Amazing!!!!! YOu know that chick trainer on biggest loser, she said NOTHING makes you lose weight like running. She said other cardio is good , and she realizes not everyone can run, but there is NOTHING like running to see the weight fall off.

She also said build muscles by lifting weights and it burns cal all day without bulking up yourself for women.

Thanks whosya!! I have started doing more strength training but I need to get a book or something to find out the best way to do it. More weight, less reps or less weight, more reps? I've always been pretty athleticly built and have pretty good muscles. I just don't want to look too bulky.

Anyone know the best way to do it?????

Georgia & All... I know we all think "I've been at this for so long", and don't always see the progress we've made. Well, reality check time....

  • 1 year ago (for most of us or less...) we were all morbidly obese and the thought of climbing stairs was scary... the thought of running would have been hillarious
  • Less than 4 months ago (again, shorter for many of us) we embarked on this thing called running... and each ran our Day 1 Week 1 session... and again, most of us were SURPRISED we could actually do it
  • Now many of us (and soon all of us) are running for 30+ minutes (45+ and more too) to complete 5k races (and 10k, triathalons and 1/2 marathons). That is like a Quantum Leap from where we were 4 months ago, let alone where we were a year ago!

So congratulations to all of us for achieving what we have so far... even if it is just your first week. We have truely conquered our weight issues, even if the scale hasn't complied yet... we've succeeded and time will prove it to the rest of the world. Well done!!!

Kathy you are so right!!!!! Six months ago I couldn't walk 1/4 a mile without being out of breath. The fact that I can on and off jog/run for three miles is amaizing! Soon I'll be graduating with you guys!! I'm getting back on the running-wagon this week....my swelling is gone, I went out and had a smashing time this weekend (walked A LOT) and am ready to recommit without interruptions!

Leslie... glad to have you back!!! Glad also that you had a great weekend... I did some smashing too... pumpkins that is! LOL, the pumpkin patch had a pumpkin slingshot set up, that you could launch small pumpkins or gourds and aim them at the larger pumpkins in the field. I bullseyed a few... lots of fun! Or as my DS said "Ohhh Yeah".

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
