Hello

I am not an expert by any means! I had the same problem recently (banded 3/17/08) and could never feel full or any restrictions. I called the Nutritionist on Monday and she reviewed my food intake and made several changes (I love apple sauce, smoothies, sugar free pudding) all the soft stuff for snack and she replaced them with a slice of cheese with turkey, Peanut Butter with four crackers, more Protein to give me the fullness. The next day I tried it and now I feel the restrictions with my band. I am scheduled for a fill in two weeks to also help. If you have a Nutritionist please call her/him and check your food intake to double check. I truly understand how you feel and went through the samething for three weeks. Best!

I agree with Sisterc - perhaps if you are eating mushie food it's slipping through too fast to keep you from feeling hungry.

The other thing is..obviously you're not at a fill level that is right for you yet. That's not unusual. Also, 13 pounds is great weight loss - remember, a pound a week is reasonable. Also, sometimes you hit a platueau, for a few weeks even, and then all of the sudden you start to loose again.

How many calories are you eating a day? How much exercise are you getting? Try bumping up your exercise. And are you getting enough Protein, to keep your metabolism up?

YES - please talk to you dietitian or your surgeon's office if they do nutrition counseling.

Most of all...it's early, hang in there! I get frustrated too when the weight doesn't 'fall off' fast enough. We all want instant results - but remember, you didn't get to need to loose all this weight overnight...and it's harder to get it off than put in on!!! (Life's not fair!)

I was where you are last week. I was banded April 23, 2008. I haven't lost anything. Ive had one fill so far. The first 2-3 days after the fill was great. I felt the restriction and was eating about 1/2 of what I was able to eat. The scale started to move!! Then about 4 days after the fill, nothing. Back to normal. So I went back to see my doc again and I got a 1/2 hour lecture. He said Im snacking between meals too much and that I need to eat more at each meal. Until Im full, then I won't be as hungry in between meals. He wants me to eat 3 meals a day and no Snacks. So I tried it and it's working. Im able to go without snacks between meals. If I get really hungry I drink a Protein Drink or Water. I think the scale is finally moving down:biggrin:. I am getting a 2nd fill Wed. July 116. Im using www.thedailyplate.com to track my food intake. I just print it out to take in to him. It's finally beginning to work..

April 2nd, 13 lbs too. 2 fills, and I had to fight with depression. Doc said that depression is 100% normal, we have always had "depression and anxiety" feelings to deal with, but we just took away our ability to self-medicate with food...she recommended eating peppers! Hot spicy peppers that burn your mouth, trick your brain into releasing endorphins. Works for me! Hang in here, we will lose weight. Last week I lost 2 of the 13. Its a balancing act. This has been the very first week I felt full, and did not want to eat. I honestly think my brain had to catch up with my stomach!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
