Hello everyone! I was just banded last Friday! A good friend persuaded me to research this surgery and after much investigation and prayer, I decided it was for me! :thumbs_up:She also had the surgery...one day before me! I knew it was meant to be when my first Dr visit was May 12 and I was approved by my insurance two days later! :w00t:

After reading some of the posts, my heart breaks for those who are still waiting approval.

Since surgery, I'm experiencing the gas pains that everyone mentions....plus I feel the urge to burp quite often. I even tap my chest or ask someone to gently pat my back to burp me like a baby! It's pretty uncomfortable so I hope it passes soon!!!

I'm really tired of gas x strips and clear broth.

And I hate wearing the compression hose in the summer heat!!!

But I know it's gonna be worth it!!!

I'm just following the rules to a tee...because failing is not an option!!!!

This website has been awesome for me!!!

Any advice and encouragement is welcome!!

~ hopefully thinsoon

Hi, I too, had my banding last Friday. The 6th of June, how are you dealing with the gas pains?

i was banded on the 10th. every time i stand up i feel like i am about to burp but nothing happens. not really any gas coming out the other end either. did you all go through this?

surprisingly, sucking on ice pops brings real real tiny burps up. should i continue this?

I was banded on Friday, June 6th as well! I am pretty lucky I guess as I haven't had any gas pains. I was told that if you lay flat, it helps the gas dissipate so I layed flat for quite awhile on surgery day. I am not sure if that helped or not.

This is an interesting journey we have begun!!!!

My pain is so much better!! I laid flat on my back and alternately, lifted each of my knees to my chest. I was told this would help. I did sleep "propped up" for about five days after surger and it seems like when I laid flat and on my side it helped. I also went to a golf tournament with my teenager today and opted to walk the entire course instead of getting a cart...so hopefully the walking helped as well. I also had the "I need to burp feeling alot"...and still do some. I'm feeling so much better every day!

Good luck to each of you and thanks for the advice and encouragement...it makes a world of difference!!!

I also felt it helped to have myself "burped". My doctor's and nurse's told me the best way to disapate the gas is to walk. It breaks it up in the body. I had that same feeling of needing to burp and it went away.

i am def feeling better and better. one thing for sure is that i get exhausted really easily. just walking up 2 flights of stairs gets me winded.

is anyone else having trouble getting all the Protein in? i am so limited on the amount i can drink and the Protein drinks are so tough to sip on.

Yes! I've actually been concerned about not getting enough Protein. I was told I would experience hair loss if I didn't get enough! not sure if I'm getting enough of anything right now. I'm suppose to eat (drink) six small meals a day and I'm not drinking that much. I'll be glad to get past the liquids/creamies stage!

My shoulder pain seems to be gone!!! Maybe all that walking on the golf course did the trick!! I hope so!!

Happy one week Bandiversary to me and the other June sixers!!! ;o)

Hello to all, I went out of town, last week, and am just getting back on forum. I hope all are well. I am feeling so much better. Eating soft foods, so my strength is getting back up. I am terrified of losing my hair. I have had two back surgeries close together and lost some of my hair from anesthesia. I was on another site and they said there are some "bullets" of Protein, that you can break over your ice and it comes in flavors and has mega Protein. I don't like milk and drinking that whey protein stuff is killing me, ughh. I will post what it is when I get the info. I have asked name, where to buy, etc.... Several people said they love them. I did find out after feeling like I was going to die from dry heaving gas, the nutritionist said to try glycerine suppositories. WOW, what a relief. They had told me not to use a laxative, because the rebound Constipation would be worse, but with all the liquids, nothing was going out, so bloated. They were a miracle relief for me, I had walked, layed on my stomach, you name it. I will never be without them again, just for "incase" LOL.

Hope all of you are doing well. I go back for my check up today, was suppose to go last week, but they changed my appt.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
