Who's Getting Banded in July?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on July 3rd and really am tolerating mushy food. I've eaten "soggy crackers" in my Soup and just finished eating a bowl of pureed chicken. I could eat a lot more!!!! i don't think I have any restriction at all. I've been lucky and haven't felt sick to my stomach at all so I have to be cautious NOT to swallow too fast or eat too much.

I took off some of my bandages this morning. The tiny cuts look great. The port site still looks "scarey" so I'll leave the steri-strips on until they fall off. I kind of wished I felt some restriction. I haven't lost any weight in the last four days.

One week post op and I feel pretty good. For those that are suffering, I'd suggest you get checked out by the doctor. I know we're all different but you just want to be sure you're getting A+ service and support!

Keep us posted!

HELLO ALL! I was banded yesterday...and I am feelin pretty good! Must admit, my abdomen is pretty sore, especially my port site. Getting up and out of bed is sometimes hard, but I know that pretty soon it will all start paying off. My doc has me on 1 week clear liquid, 1 week full liquid, 2 weeks mushie foods, and then on to regular eating habits. How i everyone doing?

Josh

Annabella that does sound very strange that your Dr. filled you during surgery! You should ask hime why he does this. Does he like experimenting with patients?? I'm no Dr., but I've never heard of this practice (fill during surgery) before! It seems like that won't give the band time to heal in place.

Trudy, I'm being banded on 7/24 at the OCC! I'll be arriving there on the 23rd for my pre-op bloodwork. Hope to see you there!

Mrs J.J I live in the Northville/Novi area of Mich. I had my surgery done at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti, my surgeon was Dr Andre Nunn. Are you from MI?

getthin, your right! Its very strange b/c not only did he give me a fill but I have 40% restriction. That's a lot! I talked with his assistant b/c I was told NO fill at surgery by the nutritionist and then one wk later to find out I have 4cc's was shocking. She said he fills everyone so that the band is tight and they have restriction from the start. Iam curious to know if he's the only surgeon with this practice. I do know he strays from the other drs' orders. All the other drs in the practice have you on liquid for 2 wks post op but Dr Nunn only does 4 days liquid. 1 day of that is prior to surgery. Iam getting the feeling he does things his way.

Hey Josh, glad to see you made it and didn't get sick!! Keep us posted.

Josh I am glad you posted. I guess it is a mother hen thing that i was worried about you. Glad to see you are doing well.

I don't have a port site. Do others?

Gosh, if you have to get enough Protein then you can't eat anything else hardly, right? That is 3 low carb/high protein slimfast to get your 60 grams of protein needed. So then how do you eat other things? So confused!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not restricted at all either. So if you are not suppose to have a drink with food an example would be Slimfast (isn't that a drink) and then some Soup or applesauce. So when do you have your Protein Drink?

Well, let us know how you're doing! I know that's worrysome! But, there are all sorts of doctors who do things their own way. Mine is very laid back, but he did stress what was MOST important to follow.

I live in Sweden, I was curious if it it was a surgeon from the European area that did this, that is why I asked.

Please keep us informed on how you are progressing.

It would be interesting to hear from others that have had their band fitted by Dr Andre Nunn.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
