It is a little overwhelming right now to wade through all the trip stuff, especially for newbies and even for those not able to attend.

It might be good next year to set up a separate thread for those going on the trip to make and confirm all arrangements. This thread could keep inviting people and giving some details.

However, its dealing with life that often gets us into the food, so putting our issues out there on a daily basis, our struggles, our triumphs, etc., helps us stay out of the food.

I'm struggling right now. I was afraid the maintenance stage would bring that and it has. All I want is sugar and chocolate. Not gaining yet but it can't be far behind if I can't get on top of this.

However, I have been on a spiritual high the past few days even though I'm struggling with the food. Go figure. We did this amazing song on Sunday called Revelation Song. You can see it on Youtube. Amazing. I saw two sunrises while listening to the song that were amazing. The first had a rainbow to the right of the sunrise. I've never seen a rainbow on the same side as the sun and never at sunrise. I was on my way to choir practice before church, listening to Revelation Song as practice before the practice.

The next sunrise was the next morning on my way to school. A straight up and down shaft of tangerine light rose directly from the rising sun like a finger pointing straight up to God out of a mango-papaya horizon.

Part of the Revelation Song says: clothed in rainbows of living color and goes on Holy Holy is He.

Man! I couldn't stop praising Him or listening to that song. Finally moved my CD off repeat today. There are other songs out there but I'm still waking up with that one in my head and singing it while I walk around the school exercising. Wow!

Apples, if MN is chosen for next year I would drive up. That would give us another car. It is probaly about 9 hrs for me not to much beyond where my daughter is now. I know my Mom loved Duluth when my DB lived there.

I've been babying my dashound Isaac. Had to take him to the vet, was prepared to put him down but we are trying steriods first. He ruptured a disc in his back and he could not stand or walk. He can stand & walk for about 2 feet today and is finally eating and drinking a bit. I will not see him suffer but am going with this for awhile. First thing vet said was send him a neurologist which would cost $5000-$7000. ugh not going to happen.

Yes I am envious but so excited for all of you that get to meet. Have a great time and I can't wait to see all your pics.

Take care all.

I for one am sorry to have posted so much about this trip on here, but yet I feel it is very much a part of what has happened here. Many of us have become good friends and are excited to meet, and others seemed excited about it as well even though they aren't able to come and want to see the pics and hear about it or so I thought.

On that note, this will probably be my last post before I leave, I have guests coming over shortly and then gotta leave for the airport!! YAHOO!!

I enjoy the excitement and the love flying amongst all of you and I truly wish I could be there. Apples, your anticipation causing you to hyperventilate made me choke up. Wasn't sure if I was laughing or crying.

But some of the arrangements between those going as far as airlines, condos, who's picking up whom and when, those things could maybe be handled on a separate thread or by e-mail.

I look forword to reports and pictures.

I will be arriving thursday nite real late. So I will probably meet up with yall on Friday morning. My husband is coming but my Son is staying with my inlaws. We are debating right now on riding the motorcycle. I didn't want to bring it up so I was waiting for my husband to realize it might not be the best riding weather. We have been in worse but didn't really enjoy ourselves.

I wore my new jeans to school today. Also pulled out a shirt I outgrew. It felt kinda akward not being hidden behind my baggy clothes. I am starting to see my curves again instead of just being a big circle. It sure did feel good though looking in the mirror knowing I am gonna be thin again.

omg...you go girl!!! Good for you! I am so happy for you!

I am to freaking excited to work !!!!!

Jodi - OK GF Vegas is out :0) We want you to come :0)

its okay....if all everyone wants to go...thats okay..by next year....who knows I could meet someone else by then and not even remember the guy in Vegas....name...(dought it) lol If I still feel the same...ill just be hyper ventilating the whole time and looking over my shoulder terrified!!

Julie - I will ck my bag curbside when I get to the airport at 5:30 tomorrow morning.. I have to pay $25 to ck - thats stupid - they better not lose the sucker if I gotta pay them..

You can only print roundtrip if you are returning less thant 24 hrs - like business pple who travel and come back the same day - it must have to do w/security (Do you know why Great) - Since we don't have a printer at the resort - we won't be able to ck in online - we will have to ck in at a kiosk (sp)..

Laura - I'll get your butt in the gym w/me on Friday & Saturday mornings - will help you get a little closer to your goal ;0) !!!

Your DH is too sweet :0) 1!!!

Well lunch time - salad today ;0)

Cheri, I'm sorry you are struggling with your sugar and chocolate... I am doing that, too, with the sugar... I just crave it..... I'm just not eating on point much at all these days... Had cauliflower Soup twice today and about 3 cookies... Not a good food day, but also not over calories.... Just no Protein to speak of.... Gotta get something good going or I'll be gaining, too...

Lori, stay cool..... see you soon....

Let's hope Janet gets things straightened out...

Am not setting up a separate thread for trip info - if pple don't want to wade threw our trip discussions - so be it - This is trip is a big part of us - If someone doesn't want to read about it - but wants help they can skip the travel discussion and ask for help.

Look at Joyce who's going to be banded 2/22 - she sure wanted to join us - hell her 1st post was I wanta come too- look at all the other newbies too ....

Hell they can see that this is a great thread - they can see that we support each other and have become great friends -

Cheri you haven't been here that long but when I lost my Bro in 10/08 - These ladies were here for me - I had more support from my I'm here to help sisters than I did for my own family

Yes we are social - heck look at your post - it's not all band related - seeing sunrises and rainbows - what that got to do with the price to tea in china (our bands)

So if pple don't like our social network - then they don't have to join the thread - but that being said - they are going to miss out on a lot of good info from experienced banders and losing the chance to make great friendships...

Kdee...so sorry to hear of your troubles...don't panic though. Just get ahold of your doc's office. Sounds like you are a little overfilled. Might just need a tweak of an unfill. You are most likely irritated and your system needs a rest. Getting an unfill does not mean taking all of your fill away...just a little might do the trick...

Call your doc A.S.A.P. in the morning...or...tonight if you are not getting fluids...

Let us know how things are going. Take care

kdee, I'm sorry you are feeling so bad..... I don't know what to tell you except to call your doctor... It certainly isn't good for you to keep PBing all the time... Have you put yourself on straight liquids without any solids at all? Maybe you are just so irritated now that you need time to heal... I'd try the liquids and if not better real soon, call the doc.... Good luck to you....

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
