Hi all, I only have a few minutes, so a fly by. Kids do the trick or treating tonight -- I love that -- I have on my halloween shirt, necklace, earrings, etc. Can't wait to get home and pass out goodies.

Great -- hope DD can get the surgery while she's pg so she doesn't have to suffer -- I'm sure it will be safe -- they can do so much now -- but if she needs it out it would be such a long time to suffer and I would imagine it will get harder the further along she gets. Glad she can go to a surgeon you have so much faith in.

Apples -- funny dream -- hugs to you on your day of remembrance - -I get that way too with my loved ones. My mom's anniversary of her passing is coming up and I always have a tough time.

Arlene, you are doing good -- when you get the munchies for the bad things, try to eat something healthier -- I agree the popcorn is good -- did you know it even has antioxidents in it? I eat one bag every evening -- gets me through the night and I look forward to it -- I trick myself with Snacks - I tell myself I'll eat it my snack foods later -- it works for me -- if I'm at a buffet with DH I leave when he is done and is going to the dessert table - I just go to the car, I don't want to eat that stuff. I get on that exercise equip every day and it's long, hard work to burn off 500 calories -- the sweat pours off me - so I tell myself "remember how long it took to burn that off" -- it seems to help me. I find if I eat my little treats every night it keeps me from cheating any other time of the day.

Tx, congrats on the band and Debbie, thanks for letting us know he's doing okay. Hope the shoulder recovery goes well also.

Later,

Linda

Thanks for the New Years Challenge. It's just what I needed to get back on track. Stress of a very sick mother took me off to sugarland. No more junk food starting right now. Thanks again.

Arlene/Charlene,

You eat way more than I can. Two eggs? I'd be pb'ing after just a couple of bites. A turkey burger? Again, can't eat a whole one, much less a salad or veggies on the side. Are you adding stuff to them that turns them into sliders? Do you need a fill? Are you putting a lot of fruit in your salad? Sugar in your Salad Dressing? Is it sugar free yoghurt? How much sugar is in muscle milk? If you're going to purge the carbs, do it totally for a couple of days. Read the fine print on everything. Then add back the veggies, then some fruit, then maybe something like popcorn or other whole grains in very small quantities. You do not have the metabolism for carbs. Janet does. Someday, when you have the weight off, and can exercise more, your metabolism may pop up. Your blood sugar and insulin resistance will regulate themselves once you lose weight and your metabolism should improve. Mine did. I was able to add back some carbs and still keep the weight off.

Atkins products are some of the best for keeping Protein high and carbs that count extremely low.

Very cold here tonight as well. Dramatic drop in temp. Still windy.

Oz. by Oz. Lb by Lb. The weight creeps down. (Or up.) So far going down.

I'm on the band-wagon to lose 4 lbs by Thanksgiving. That'll put me at the bottom of my weight range. That way I can enjoy Thanksgiving guilt-free.

Sorry I have been MIA again. I need to get a routine down, but am failing miserably with that right now.

I am working at my new job every day off and on, and I'm trying to get some of the stuff done that I want to get done. I had hoped to have some "retirement time" that would let me piddle around doing stuff, but since that isn't the case, I'm just going to have to learn to structure my day.

Okay, once I get the hang of how they want these documents....it's going to be easy.

I have been doing other stuff like cleaning, laundry, moving rocks (my favorite outside weight bearing work), making limoncello, and now my sister is here and I have to go over there soon. No rest for the wicked I guess.

Oh, and I watched TV yesterday....first time since I got back from Argentina. Wow.

Okay, just wanted to let you know I'm alive and I'll read posts and check in again later.

Eva

Apples, hugs about your mom. Mine has been gone 8 years now. Seems like yesterday.

Janet, you are so right. That was my old self wanting to creep back in. I went to the gym tonight after work and kicked my own butt. 1267 on the calories today.

Yep, i probably need a fill. I usually can't eat a whole patty or even a whole egg.....now I can. Then sometimes I am real tight. Y'all are right on the carbs. the Muscle Honey Milk Light has 14 carbs.

The cold front has been moving in today. It was real windy, but the humidity was extremely low. This is a dry front. The ole Fibro is kicking tonight, but not like last year. I think a Tylenol will do the trick on pain.

My poor little Bethany is really having a lot of tummy problems. I have never seen a breast fed baby be constipated. She also has reflux. The pediatrician took my DD off of all milk products and said B should improve in about four days. DD is also giving her Water twice a day to help with Constipation. Poor baby.

Eva, doesn't seem like you have even caught your breath from Argentina. I think you would have been super board being retired. I know I was for several years before I got involved in our community. I still wish I had a little part time, but my DD would freak....she is my part time....lol.

Lori, glad DH came out of colonoscopy well. I hope he has a restful evening.

Isa.......will check out the New Year's Challenge. Thanks!

Apples.....are you still working at the salon on Mondays?

Phyl......please let us know about your MRI. I know you must be miserable. I hope the virus is over soon.

Janet......are you leaving tomorrow? Have a safe trip......HUGS and Prayers for you and sis!

DH just handed me his ipad to see if I would like one. Ho! Ho! Ho! Thanks Santa!.......I would love one!:thumbup:

Thanks...you keep working like you have been, changing this around for yourself and doing these challenges, you'll be at goal b/4 you know it, ISA...keep it going...good luck!

thanks so much for the encouragement. The hardest part was calling the gym, getting back on to LBT, getting back into food logging. Now that I've started I've gotten into a routine and its easier. Coming to LBT keeps me on track and accountable, so I will stick around even if things get tough. I don't know why I left when things got sticky last time. That wouldve been the best time to stay! Anyhow, thanks for the encouragement. Like I said, seeing that others can do it, helps me know that I can too!!

Hello........... well I got very little sleep last night, but sure did sleep off and on today... good thing DH was home to be with Mimi.... He said he even shook me one time and I wouldn't wake up..... Must have been exhausted.... So, Mimi and the puppy went home a while ago.... DD and SIL had a good time in Vegas but are very tired.... Bailey was happy to see us, too... She was with her mother all this time.... I'm glad they are home and looking forward to life going back to some sort of normalcy again..... I don't think I have to do anything tomorrow at all..... Only what I want to do..... that's a good feeling....

Eva, what kind of job.... I missed this I guess....

Lori, hope DD will be okay..... and that DH is okay.....

Arlene, hope your FM doesn't flare.....

Apples, hugs on the memories of "Mom"....... Are you still so cold there? Snow mostly melted on the roads today, but is still very cold.... wind did go down some...

Hope all are well and doing fine.... I'm going to get myself ready for bed.... DH thinks I won't be able to sleep because I slept so much today... I guess we'll see...

Hugs and prayers.... Julie

Sorry gals... It's late and Ijust can't catch up on 4 pages. Neck pain was bad all night and all day today and fever came back... over 100. Saw neuro dr today and told him all of that and my lower back history. He did good neuro exam and offered me Rx, but said he really needed to do an MRI and more x-rays to tell what's going on. So I go tomorrow for all of that, including the neck. If temp contiues, I guess I will go to urgent care because he didn't comment much on that. Sister keeps bugging me because she thinks I have strep. I don't think so. I supposed viral meningitis is a possibility, but no headache. Just bad neck pain and can't move myy head and fever that comes and goes.

Frustrating! I missed two neighborhood happy hour parties this week!! LOL! Canadians, etc. coming in for the winter. Today some friends from Oregon. And I just have to wave through the door because I don't know if I"m contagious and these people are OLD!! HAHAHA!!

Is this color ok for reading on a monitor?

Phyl, hope you feel better soon! Being sick is really crimping your style (and Zoey's too).

TX, How are you feeling today?

I was looking up PB2 recipes yesterday. There are so many I just don’t know which one to try first. Does anyone have a favorite? While looking at the recipes Google brought up, I found that Trader Joes carries Peanut Butter flour which, from what I could tell, is equivalent to BP2. Has anyone tried this? Since I bought 4 jars of BP2 I guess I won’t need more any time soon.

I have a meeting in Racine this afternoon so I have the morning off. I am planning to take Charlie to the doggy park. It is his favorite places. It is a 4 acre fenced park where dogs can socialize and play off leash.

Julie, It has been a very busy and exciting week for you. As you get back into a daily routine I hope your pain lessons.

Charlene/Arlene, I have seen both names used. Which do you prefer? How is our pact going this week? So far I have watched my intake and except for my one lazy day (yes, Janet did kick me around over it) I have exercised. I haven’t seen any movement on the scale yet but my week doesn’t end until Monday. I only record my weight once a week to avoid getting upset over fluctuations. How does exercise work for you with FM? Does it make you feel better or is it a struggle?

Eva. How is the new job going?

Apples, I haven’t been to the doctor yet but I planning on having a TT, breast lift and maybe a small augmentation. I have always been small on top so nothing too big; I would be happy with a B cup. I have never been larger than an A cup even when I weighed 260 pounds. My DH started a separate saving account for my redo. I had mentioned that someday I would like to have it done but it was expensive and I would have to take a loan and make payments. In typical fashion, he grabbed the bull by the horn and has been socking it away. LOL, the thought of a loan must have scared him. They say you should be at goal and I still have 43 pounds to go. Hopefully my weight and money come together this coming summer or maybe early fall. Heck if I am going to take 6 weeks off of work it won’t be in the winter!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
