Hey Chris...good to see you posting. Hope your shoulder pain subsides with each day. I assume you have PT ahead of you also. That will keep you busy during your time off. Did the pain meds bother your new stomach at all?

Have a restful weekend and take care.

Hey Girls and TX...successful day of shopping. I AM DONE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!!!

Tomorrow night the plan is for DH and I to dress up and go out. There's a Blues Brothers band playing in a town east of here that we plan on going to and costume contest. I will snap some photos b/4 we head out.

The following are photos from two years ago when I went out with my friend, my son and some of his friends. Fun was had by all. (My son is the one in the trench coat a.k.a. "Flasher") I'm the blond and was at goal...online shopping can provide almost anything a girl wants. LOL:w00t:

Hi guys,

TX, glad you're posting. Had a big bone spur and some rotator repair some years ago. Now my left shoulder has torn cartilage from a fall a couple of winters ago. Only really gives me trouble when I sleep. Can't lay on that side comfortably the way I used to. But I'm not willing yet for a surgical solution. And my experience with physical therapy for other injuries has not been great. I have full movement in shoulder, I just can't bear body weight well on my left shouder or sleep well on it at certain angles. I make sure I sleep on it in various positions that keep it from freezing up. I can just tell that something is torn and that kind of tear never really heals. Hope you heal fast and get full mobility and strength back quickly. I tend to heal very quickly from various joint surgeries. Don't even need physio afterwards. Pray you'll do as well.

Arlene, counting the carbs and not the calories might be the way to go right now. With your metabolism so low its probably insulin resistance that's keeping it so low in addition to your meds. Even a small amount of carbs can trigger cravings for those sensitive to it. Even fruit can do it. Corn is like potatoes. Turns to sugar very fast in your system. Once your metabolism changes and your insulin resistance improves from losing the weight and increasing your exercise, good carbs can be increased and occassional not-so-good carbs like corn tolerated. Keep the goal in mind. You've experienced so much improvement in your health. Some of it is from the weight loss itself, and some is from the elimination of carbs from your diet, including the lessening of your FM pain.

You can do this, as can we all.

Cheri

Forgot to tell my challenge buddies.... I did go to TOPS yesterday... probably wouldn't have if I didn't have to do the lesson... but I was down and weighed 201.6. Sorry I haven't been posting food/calories, but I've been doing pretty good with intake, but not so much with exercise! I think I only did Water aerobics once or twice this week.

Woo Hoo Phyl!!!WTG with the challenge! And not one, but two hot grandsons! You should be one proud lady.

Like the new avatar pic, Apples!

Thanks, Great...DH snapped it a few days ago as I was sitting at my desk "talking" with you guys. I thought it was appropriate for my LBT avatar. So, everytime you guys see it you can pretend my lips are moving.

Hi Everyone - just checking in. The scale hasn't budged since Wednesday. According to the scale, I haven't lost one ounce. I'm eating between 800-950 calories a day (never over) and exercising like crazy. An hour, 6 days a week. Just had to vent my frustration :-( Trying not to go crazy - plateau's are generally when I sabotage myself so I'm going to try and just push through this. I hope I can at least lose a pound this week. Frustrating...

ISA...try to only weigh yourself on your weigh-in day if you are getting frustrated and feel defeated. Put the scale out of sight and just go on as you are sticking to your plan. scales play mind games when a person weighs every day. We all have fluctuations and those 2-3 lbs differences can really put a damper on our moods and sometimes make us throw our hands up. Just a thought.

Charlene, I hear you on the slow weight loss with medicines. I take medicine for diabetes and it does make it harder to lose weight. On the other hand it is that much more important for me to lose the weight so I will keep on losing at whatever rate my body lets me.

TX – So glad to hear it went well. Soon it will be a distant memory and all you will be aware of is how much better you feel.

Sandy, how is your Charlie? What did you ever find out about his leg? I never heard or I missed it if you posted it here. Merry continues to amaze us with her running -- the other night she did 4 laps around our yard - and it's a big back yard. I'm so grateful that it all turned out so well.

Merry does not tolerate "dressing up" -- she hates all clothes -- so I'm a little jealous to hear of all of you having your doggies in halloween costumes. LOL.

Linda, Charlie just finished all of his antibiotics and his toe is completely better. It must have been a bad infection after all – thank goodness. I am so glad to hear that Merry had done so well after her surgery. I am sure you are relieved with the outcome. Charlie won’t tolerate a costume either. He will be my candy distribution helper but no costume. Thanks for asking about him.

Apples, Your Halloween pictures are too much. LOL. I just loved them.

I almost forgot my calories for today 1378. Not too bad considering I ate dinner out and had one cocktail.

Sandy...those photos were taken 15 days after I hit goal. What the heck was I thinking? I should have been showing off my new body, not stuffing it. I will show it off in my costume tomorrow night.

Evening ladies,

Linda, thank you for the book...I got it today. Can't wait to read it. Glad to hear Merry is doing so well. Those little dogs are amazing.

Sandy, did you post a picture of Charlies dressed up? Hey, that's pretty cool about your husband and him starting to save for your future "procedures".

Phyl, sorry to hear you are feeling poorly, hope you get better and so what's up with the MRI? You've certainly had your share this year.

Tx, congrats on the surgery and hope the shoulder starts feeling better soon. With that going on, you shouldn't be obsessing about the lap band like the rest of us probably did. The weight loss in the beginning is amazing. Enjoy it!!

Arlene, sounds like you are doing good with the FM. I'm sure the exercise is helping. It helps in so many ways. You are a good mother to take care of DD and grand kids the way you are. I certainly hope she appreciates you!!

Apples, the Halloween pictures of you are too funny. I love them. Enjoy yourself tonight!

Joyce, welcome home!!

Janet, have a good trip.

Julie, glad the "kids" made it back. Hope you get some peace and quiet. I'm doing some computer work (documentation and autoCAD) for a very small company out of Dallas. My friend turned me on to the job.

Great, are you back for a little bit from your travels? I just listed all the states I've been to and have 18 more to visit. I should be able to get to a couple of them on my trip to Ohio next month.

LauraK, I've seen you post but you aren't saying how you are doing? Still walking miles?

Finally making some progress on "the job". I starting to figure some stuff out and I think it's going to be alright. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to structure my day. I guess it doesn't have to be perfect the first week. I worked 16 hours this week and got 4 autoCAD drawings done plus quite of bit of a workbook done. Still quite a bit more to do, but I'll need my friends help with it because I don't have the right information.

Hi Cheri, how are you doing? It's Friday so hopefully you have a good weekend! I just saw a picture I took of you at the Bellagio and you look so good!

I'm going to go read that book Linda sent...improve my mind.

Have a great night everyone.

Eva

Good morning gang! I am so sore from last nights session with the trainer, but I did not have to take Tylenol. That is a good sign.

Apples........love your constume pics! Can't wait to see the new ones.

Eva......you are so sweet. I love my grand kids, and my DD is so appreciative. I know when I get old she will be there for me and so will my Grand kids. Bethany did so good after DD cut out her milk products for one day. She is definitely lactose intolerant.

Cheri, I know carbs are my downfall. I have been slacking on the journal. I have to get back to it. This morning I had 2tbsp of PB2 on half of a whole wheat sandwich thin. The fact that I can eat a sandwich thin tells me I need a slight fill. I want to get one before Thanksgiving.

Sndy.....yep Dr. DAvis told me that my BP med is one that makes losing hard, but doable. I tried not taking it, but my pressure went up. I think if I can lose 20 more lbs I can get off of it I take meds for the FM which don't help either.

Tx.......You sound like you are doing so well. You are one tough guy to have two surgeries at once. Move around so that gas doesn't get trapped.

Phyl....how are you?

Lori.....where are you?

Linda.....sorry you are feeling bad. Maybe that FM is acting up because the weather is changing. I love to get in the Jacuzzi at the gym and relax. In fact. DH and I are going to go swim this afternoon and soak in the Jacuzzi.

Okay peeps......gotta go get Charlie groomed then off to my GS's last football game . He will be 9 next week. I will check in later! Have a great saturday!

Hi and happy Sat. everyone!

Apples, wow -- love those costumes but yes, why in the heck didn't you dress up as a slinky, sexy girl since you had recently gotten to goal? Funny how our minds work.

Eva, glad you got the book -- it is a great one -- very helpful.

Tx, hope you have a good day and are feeling a somewhat more comfy. Hi to Debbie too!

Gotta get to the gym.

CBL

Linda

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
