Hi there from Aurora

The Homeland Security just changed the rules last year so if you go to Canada or Mexico, you do have to have a passport now(can't just use your driver's license anymore). I didn't go down to Mexico for my surgery but the rule would apply since you're crossing the border. I had my surgery here in Aurora. Good luck. Hope you didn't get too much damage with the tornados! it is best to get a passport because yes, it will be necessary. They have changed it as stated above, however, they are allowing people to cross with a birth certificate and a picture ID. I just crossed about 2 wks ago and they were still allowing the birth certificate & ID. I know I should get a passport, just haven't gotten around to it. If your procedure is soon, you can "rush" the passport, if i remember correctly this adds $50 to the actual cost of the passport (actually, can't remember how much it is, i'm thinking between $40 and $60)

Thanks guys!

Hi Cami ::waves::

The swift corporate office lost it's roof a few blocks from my house, which made me giggle since I'm a vegetarian..lol.

But about a mile north is Windsor, :wink2: I tried to go volunteer but they never called me back!

Thanks for the kind words, what part of A town are you in? I have family on Colfax and 225 and also New Aurora E470 and Quincy.

I was down on the border just a few weeks ago for a spring retreat. We all wanted to go out to eat dinner across the border, but had to cancel as not all of us had a passport with us. We could easily cross into Mexico, but coming back in would have been a BIG problem.

Getting in is no problem, getting out is a real hassle. You would be taking a big risk to go without a passport. If you definitely plan to go to Mexico in the future, you should get a passport asap. You can order them in the post office in most towns.

Depends if you are flying into Mexico, or driving near the border and crossing over on foot or my car. If the latter, you don't need a passport until June 2009. And as said before, getting into Mexico isn't the problem; getting back into the US is! But right now you can travel across the border by land into the US with a driver's license and birth certificate.

We recently cruised and did not need a passport to enter or exit; Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Panama. To avoid any mishaps during your recovery time, I'd get a passport for sure. You'd hate to be stuck in Mexico just after having surgery. :thumbup:

Air travel you definitely need a passport for. I believe you can drive or walk across right now without one, but it may be as soon as next month that it changes, if I remember correctly.

Go on line under US passports, It's as stated above, June 2009 passports are required by air or land. For now it's passport by air, drivers & birth cert. by land or sea.

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
