Recommended Posts

I was banded on may 21st and im looking to share and compare stories.

Ill start with some issues i had 1st.

The 1st thing after i woke up i had a chest pain / presure which went away after 2 days or so. I also am still having some gas and the burps still and its 5 days after surgery ( they hurt a bit ). Other then that im a lil sore and being carful how i move and such. Today is a better day for the most part.

2nd of all ( not sure if this is normal ) i have lost 11lbs since may 21st. Which makes me pretty happy  ! Im doing about 2 slim fast a day with juics / Water and one in while a all natural frozen pops. Also drinking at lest 1 Protein Water. Sometimes i have some broth .When every i get hungery i just pop a slim fast and im set, i never have the urge to go and eat food like i have seen some ppl state on the forums ( i think im lucky so far ).

And 3rd... my stats

I started at 343 lbs. I lost 23 lbs with a diet / walking by my docs before surgery. And since surgery i have lost another 11lbs. Im 5 foot 3 female age 27.

I hope others will be willing to share some info so we can see how everyone is doing !

gl all!!

May 21st surgery date here!!

I am doing pretty good.. I am only on extra strength tylenol for pain. It comes and goes. Sometimes I feel really good and then like an idiot get up do some dishes wash the counters and bam... back to bed for a few....I have the gas burps and they are getting better every day.

Currently I am doing about 3 Protein Shakes a day... made with an extra 1/3 cup of powdered milk to get my Protein up to 60 grams a day. I am getting about 70+ ounces of Water in and I usually have one cup of broth a day to break up the sweet shakes.

I have not lost any weight. When I came home from the surgery I was WAY up in my weight and WAY ticked off to say the least. Of course I sat back and realized that this was my journey and no one elses. I am happy to say that most of the water weight has at this point come off.

I am not having any cravings or desires to eat any thing other then what I was told to eat. I am thankful for this. I have read that others are all ready struggling with wanting to eat.

I have my first follow up on the 5th of June. I will hope to report weightloss at that time....

I did take off about 15 pounds with my dieting prior to the surgery.....sooo with the water that came back on I am about at square one again...

I am hoping to get things rollin' soon!!

Hey everybody...

I too was banded on the 21st.... and i am doing really well.

The first couple of days were bad b/c i had alot of pressure in my chest... and it was really hard to breathe.. but i am doing better now...

i have been eating 1 slimfast and some broth or Soup... today i got some of the Lipton cup o Soup and it is really good... it is the chicken flavor.. kinda like the broth but a lil thicker and much bettter tasting... not not as thick as like cream of chicken or anything so it is working well for me... i am also drinkin alot of crystalite....

i haven't gotten on a scale yet b/c i told myslef i was going to wait at least one week... it is really killin me but i am going to do it.. lol

I am glad to see everybody is doing so well and let all keep up the good job!

Hey, all! I am a May 21 bandster as well! (OK.... does 2007 count???? J/K) I'm happy to share my bandiversary with you all!

When I came out of the hospital I weighed about 10 pounds MORE than when I went in. There was a lot of bloating and Water weight. It took about 7-10 days to lose that and then I dropped steadily for the next several months. I hope it's the same for all of you.

Good luck on your journey's my fellow May 21st bandsters! :biggrin2:

I'm another May 21st. I hurt a bit for the first couple days, but the only pain right now is from the gas. It tends to come out more when I walk. I have a high pain tolerance, so I only used the lortab a few times.

I have a herbal wrap thing that gets put into the microwave to heat up, and I've been laying that across my shoulders and on my tummy, and it seems to help move the gas around.

Today was the first day I put real clothes on instead of sweatpants and a t-shirt. I was afraid the waistband of the pants would rub, but it didn't.

I go back to work tomorrow. I bought several small serving-size containers of cottage cheese, yogurt, and prepared drinks for the week at work.

My doctor said full liquids, and the list given by the nutritionist said that yogurt and cottage cheese are allowed, as are mashed potatoes and cream of wheat. I was surprised too, and asked them to make sure, and they said yes. I was also given mashed potatoes and scrambled eggs after surgery while still in the hospital.

I'm eating very small amounts.

I'm back to work today, and I was worn out by lunch time. I may just come in late on Wednesday.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
