Back on Track Again...I Hope

Recommended Posts

I think things are back on track for me once again. I was originally scheduled for surgery on May 21. I was so excited. Well, the Monday before last I ended up with an awful pain in my mouth. By Tuesday I was in the ER and on an IV with antibiotics. Wednesday was a trip to the dentist so that he could refer me to an oral surgeon to have an abscessed wisdom tooth pulled. While all this was going on, I had a call into my surgeon who ended up cancelling my surgery until the tooth was pulled and I was healed. While I understand the reasoning behind it, I was still very, very disappointed. I was so focused at that point with only 1 week to go before surgery. When the surgery was cancelled, I felt everything was pulled out from under me and I was right back at the beginning again. I had my appointment with the oral surgeon on Tuesday (the day before my surgery had been scheduled). He was awesome. Got me in on Friday. I ended up having 2 wisdom teeth pulled. I have very little pain at the moment and feel pretty good. He is sending a letter to my surgeon telling him that I will be good for surgery any time after 2 weeks. I figure I will call the surgeon on Wednesday and try to get another appointment set in stone. I can't wait. I've kind of been wandering around lost during all of this, but I finally feel like I'm getting that focus back again. I"m thinking now it won't be until the end of June though. I have to tell you though, I'm getting very, very sick of Protein Shakes as I have been on them all this time and will continue to be until the surgery.

Your health is so important and an absessed tooth can be a miserable experience. You dont want a major infection being cleared up at the same time getting abdominal surgery. It might seem difficult because you are working on getting the band, but what is 2 weeks compared to the rest of your life :0) It will be done and over with before you know it.

It's so true...my health is so important and if I had the surgery while there was an infection going on, that could have been very bad. I'm glad it happened before the surgery too instead of the day after or whatever because the infection would have been there during the surgery causing a possible bad situation. I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, so even though I'm disappointed that I didn't get my surgery when I had planned, it's really for the best. Okay, I have to wait some more, but it will happen

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
