In Need of Encouragement

Recommended Posts

OK, so here's where I am. I have had two fills so far, but have yet to hit my sweet spot. As such, my weight loss has really plateaued, I've gained a little, lost a little, for a few months now. OK, I can deal with that, I know that once I hit that "sweet spot" things will change.

Meanwhile, my office decides to launch an "At WorK" Weight Watchers group. I am in VA and work at a University and right now the state is reimbursing WW members for 50% of their fees when joining an at work program. I thought that with this discount, this would be a good way to connect with folks in my office as well as remind myself of how to eat better, we all know that we have to do our part to make a difference WITH the band.

Anyway, we've been at it for 3 weeks now and my total loss is 0.2 pounds! There are others in the group now that have lost an excess of 10 pounds in the three weeks as well. I'm just so frustrated, part of me feels like I should be doing better than others because of my extra tool, but instead I am doing worse than most of the group.

Then to top it all off, and I know I am doing this to myself, I sit there thinking, most of these people know I had surgery, what are they thinking of me, that I wasted my time, effort, and money and still not lose weight? The logical part of me says, no, they probably don't even remember you had it, but I am so bummed about this, I really wanted to gain additional motivation through participating with this group, but it seems to be doing the opposite!

Anyway, I would love to hear some encouragement from others who are struggling with microscopic weight loss, I know I can do this, I can, but I just need some additional support.

Thank you all!

Alisa

Alisa - as a former Weight Watcher myself - don't get discouraged! You've lost 30 pounds in four months...that is awesome. When I went to WW the first two weeks was huge. I'd lose 12 pounds...then plateau to .2 or even gain - doing everything I was supposed to be doing. Three years ago I lost 50 pounds...guess what - gained back 45 of that. It took me nine months to lose that much weight. You've already lost 30 pounds in 1/3 of that time. Don't compare your weight loss to theirs - it is apples and oranges! If they quit WW and go back to their old ways - they WILL gain it back. It is so hard to sustain that weight loss!!! You however have a tool they don't have and once get your restriction it will be much harder to gain. Slow and steady wins the race.

I am going through the same sort of thing, Alisa. I actually do know how you feel.

I agree with Leslie, apples and oranges! Your thinking is right on track, they will help you to re-learn healthy eating, that can only be a plus.

Just listen to the motivation at the meetings, learn everything you can and let the rest go. You know you are only going down (weight wise) from here!:tt1:

I am struggling with the up 3 down 1.5 up 5 down .4 I have been in the 180's for almost 3 months! Yes, I have lost 50 something (depends on the day... ugh) but I feel frustrated about the lack of change, ESPECIALLY AFTER ALL THE CHANGE IN THE BEGINNING! I know that I need to hit the "sweet spot" with my fills, so I am trying to be patient. I go for a fill next Thursday, hopefully this will be the kickin the a$$ I need to start rolling downhill again!

Hang in there - YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOT ALONE!

Keep up the great work and look at all the positive things you are doing for yourself! I am impressed!

Thank you both so very much! I appreciate the support, this crap just maxes me out so much sometimes! I'm going to hang in there and find some new yummy recipes out of this too and keep looking at the positive.

Again, thank you, I am feeling better today too so my goal is to keep that up and find the motivation and positive thinking that will help to keep me headed in the right direction!

Hi Alisa...You are doing awesome! Keep in mind, that if you haven't reached your sweet spot yet, the band is not giving you all the restriction it is supposed to. Once you are properly filled, you should be losing 1 - 2 pounds a week. Don't worry about what other people think. With the proper restriction, exercise, and a WW diet...you will surely reach your goal. Don't put a time pressure on yourself. Be patient until you have the proper restriction....it WILL come. Until then, I am sure you are looking and feeling much better than you did in 2007. Remember that fact, when you are feeling down.

Thanks CityGirl, I appreciate your support so very much. What a process this is! I am trying to keep positive and focused on doing what I need to in order to be healthy and shed all this extra weight! It certainly isn't easy sometimes so I am glad to have a forum to talk and get some support!

Thank you!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
