did you file an appeal? I know you said earlier that you were denied, or did your doctor just resubmit? I am in about the same boat you were. My weight is just a little under but I do have high blood pressure and I am diabetic.

My doctor just resubmitted it. But I had to be 100lbs over their requirement before they would approve it, even with the co-morbs. It's bad to say but I purposely gained a few pounds for the approval. Otherwise I would have never been approved. Good luck to you!

Congratulations!

I also have Tricare, and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be to get approved, but I was already above the 100 lbs and diabetic and sleep apnea AND some other issues, so it only took me a week (no kidding!) once the Dr. submitted.

I'm scheduled for banding on May 29 and I can't wait for it to get here!

Thank you to everyone! My surgery date is June 17th. It seems like a lifetime away! But I figure I've waited months to get approved so I can wait another month.

Hi Amy, I have been following your posts all the way from Alaska!! lol

I was denied by Tricare the same day you were. I was at 38.6 BMI, with co-morbs but not THEIR specific co-morbs. Once I was denied, I called the insurance lady at the Dr. office and she said I need to get in the office to weigh in, put rocks in my pocket or just whatever, but et over that 40 BMI mark. Well, I put weights in my pocket and came in at a BMI of 41!!! Then, my insurance lady who does the appeals went on medical leave and will not be back in until Monday, 5/19.

Do you think I will get approved now with my new BMI?? I am soooo nervous about this, I just can't function anymore!

Hope to hear from you soon!

I was told that Tricare doesn't go by BMI, it goes by weight. My BMI is 36 and I got approved with one co-morbidity.........but maybe this will work for you, so good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
