How Long until you ate out for the 1st time?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering how long you waited after being banded until you ate out? What did you have?? I am really getting sick of soft foods and just want something different and my hubby mention maybe going out for supper this weekend and getting a small meal.

funny you should ask. My mom is in town visiting & I have been on mushies for a few days now. We went to applebees & I have a loaded baked potato. She had creamed spinach chips & dip. Hers was an appetizer. I had some of her spinach with my potato & of course took off some of the bacon bits. SOOOOO GOOOOOD!! You might enjoy that too. I don't know what kinda cravings you are having these days.

Enjoy!!!

I was banded on 4/16 and I went out to eat for the first time on 5/3. We went to Ruby Tuesday and I got the Cajun Tilapia, broccoli and mashed cauliflower. I ate REALLY slow and only about 3 or 4 bites of each but it was great and I didn't have any trouble with anything.

Ihad my surgery on March 17th. I thought I would just try to eat out. I had chicken made a mistake but had a pepsi. Had a gulping attack from dirinking Pepsi. Then I got real sick. Wow. I certainly wont do that one again. This was just me. But I wont do that one again.

If you have an Outback nearby they have a ground sirloin steaK. That's a Fancy name for "Hamburger without the bun"!!! Anyways it comes atop of Mashed Potatoes and is topped with some sort of a gravy... Delicious...This was my first meal out...The Hamburger was totally do-able. Just chewed it really well...Had a little bit of Mashed Potatoes...and a glass of Merlot...I thought I was in Heaven!!!

We went out for fancy dinner 3 weeks post my surgery. I ordered atlantic salmon fillet, and side of mashed potatoe. The salmon (when good quality, cooked well) flakes very easily, and was approved by my clinic.

You guys are certainly more brave than I! I did not eat out until 2 months post-op, and even then I s-l-o-w-l-y ate a small bowl of Soup. That's it. This was mostly out of fear - what if I had my very first PB in Public ???

For those that don't know PB - Productive Burp - your pouch says 'Nope' and tosses back the undigested food rather quickly.

I have relaxed more since then, but still I am very conservative in what I select from the menu (both in portion size and texture). And although I enjoy good wine, haven't have any with my meal. Oddly enough, no one has noticed, or commented on this, and certainly I don't miss it as I thought I would.

Tapshoes you sound exactly like me. I feel like I am so scared about anything I eat........Id rather be safe. Thanks so much for defining the "PB"-----Havent experienced one yet .. I am 5 weeks out today and doing good. Had my first fill on Tuesday and still dont feel restriction. But I am on the musshy phase again..taking it slowly. Wondering what I will eat on Sunday Mothers Day, but I think I will stick with Potatoes and soup....maybe fish. Thanks Talk to you soon.

almost 6 weeks post op - had baked trout, squash Soup and a glass of wine. All went down well - yes, I did chew slowly and took my time. It was also a good experience in that I remember thinking how little I actually ate and how satisfied I was and realized I can still go out for dinner and enjoy myself.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
