How much do you eat before you feel full?

Recommended Posts

I'm just wondering how much this varies from person to person. I've read some people are eating full meals, with healthy portion sizes of course. But I've also heard of people who can't eat more than a 4oz of solids before they're full.

Is it a standard 4oz pouch for everyone? I thought it was, but maybe I'm wrong?

What is a typical meal for you in size? 2oz of chicken, 2 oz of veggies, and something else?

Thanks.

Every body is different. Some people are very tight and some people aren't. Every one has a different level of tightness that they want in order to lose weight. I myself can only eat solids in the evenings and only 3 or 4 bites. I quit because it will hurt; not because I'm full. I really don't ever feel hungry and if I do...just drinking Water will make me feel satisfied for a while. I have been banded for about a year and a half now. The last six months have been the best weight loss for me. It took me a while to learn not to eat around the band. I also look at food differently now. I work out also at a gym. That is very important. I was just spinning my wheels and getting no where until I started working out. I also use a free site call Fit Day. It has been a big help for me.

Hope this helps,

Terry

bpenney - yes most are different, would depend on how much restriction your prefer. me, i prefer to eat 3 balanced meals plus a snack. i work out regularly, and hit a point that i was not getting enough calories in to sustain training sessions....so i didn't not have a fill the last time i had an appt because i feel i'm at a perfect spot for me (8.5ccs in a 10cc band).

my meals are such:

Breakfast - either a Protein shake & piece of fruit or Cereal w/berries 2%milk

lunch - approx 2/3oz of deli meat or tuna/egg/chicken salad on a wasa bread cracker with 1/4-1/2cup of some type of salad **not always a salad - depending how hungry that day**

dinner- 3/4oz of lean meat / fish / poultry with some type of veggies or salad & sometimes a whole grain rice / wheat Pasta

Snacks - raw nuts / edamame / Jerky & glass of wine sometimes:tongue:

hope this helps~

Hello all,

I too believe everyone is different about how much it takes to feel full.

I find I'm never hungry but I do want several cups of coffee a day!!

I use Creamer in my coffee and I wonder if that's keeping me from only losing a pound a week!!

Today while traveling I stopped at Taco Bell. Preband I would have ordered a #7 or a #4 (large drink, taco, w/ either a mexican pizza or crunchwrap) and a side of Beans or rice- or both.

Today I ordered a small drink, 1 taco, and 1 soft taco. My thoughts were this is way less than preband so it would do.

After 3 bites of the soft taco I was done. An hour later on the interstate I opened the taco and just took a pinch of the cheese.

I was surpised as I thought I'd be able to eat what I ordered.

Hope this helps answer your question about how much someone can eat. Everyone is different and sometimes every day is different. But I ate half a taco and was full.

Totally depends on the day, time of day, time of month. Yesterday a fried jalapeno cheese thing was too much, couldn't finish 1 of them.

Saturday for dinner I had an order of Beans from Taco Bueno (comparable to pintos n' cheese in size, but much better) and the smallest quarter of a quesadilla.

Friday I couldn't eat lunch, but I had a tilapia fillet and some asparagus for dinner.< /p>

Typical for me is to be very, very restricted in the morning lasting until... I'd say between 1 and 5pm, and then be able to eat a moderate meal. I've seen a trend where, in the pm, one bite may seem like too much but then once I let it pass and take a drink, I'm able to eat "normal". Like a delayed first bite syndrome.

I am generally not hungry or full after a cup of food, unpacked. I measured the kiddy bowl I have taken to using today and it holds a cup of food. This is a guide for me. What I do is eat that and even if I feel hungry still I wait. I wait for an hour then drink something. If I am still hungry, and I rarely am, I will eat more. I dont plan on dieting but I have changed my lifestyle. I eat until I am no longer hungry rather than stuffed full. I dont deny myself things, though. If I want ice cream I go out with the kiddos and grab a cone somewhere rather than a half gallon. If I want chocolate I go to one of those gourmet chocolate stores and get a piece of something really really yummy instead of a king size milky way (or two) that I used to stuf my face with without hardly tasting. Bottom line, it is not how much you eat because it will vary. Just go with the flow and eat good foods that fuel your body and pay attention to when your brain says it is no longer hungry. If you want a treat, make a deliberate decision and enjoy every moment of how it tastes.

These were all great responses, folks. Everyone is truly different it seems. Makes you wonder how the exact same procedure can be the perfect answer for so many people. Thanks everyone.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
