I am 13 days post-op and my port site is still sticking up like a goose egg - I can literally feel it under the skin - I do not know if it is flipped - will find out in 4 weeks but it was very sore last night had to take Tylenol to sleep and I have to wear a Spanx top to hold it in so people don't think I have a growth sticking out under my shirts - very depressed about it - hope it goes down.

I had that too, as time goes by, your port will be less noticable. Its just all the swelling and such going on. You should be fine. If your port filpped,. doc says there will be constant pain, pulling, etc. If you have that call them. Set up an early appointment, my doc said that he stitched it in there so well that nothings going to budge it. Hope this helps.

I am having a bad day - depression over my goose egg and feeling so bloated and swollen still - clothes are tighter on me than before the surgery - is this just surgery Fluid? Also, you said you had the same issue with your port sticking up - can you feel your port like I can - feels like it is right under the skin - I can almost feel the edges of it with my finger -the left side of my stomach looks deformed with this big bulge like an egg is stuck under my skin - I had no idea it would be like this - was told over and over I would not be able to see or feel it then when I went for my post-op doc visit he said everyone is built differently, yada yada - if I had known it would look like this I would never have done it would have done the sleeve instead. Hope you are right and it goes down - I have really been in a funk because of it - instead of being excited about my band I am depressed. Thanks for your reply

Actually, my port flipped and I did not have a clue. No pain, no pulling, nothing. So, it is very possible to have a flipped port and not realize it until they attempt to access it for a fill.

Wow! That's a little unsettling! How does a port flip? What causes it?

I keep seeing folks talking about drinking soda on the chat board, & it worries me. I don't want to see anyone damage their pouch, so I thought I would bump this thread up to the top again. Please see the first post to get an explanation as to why alcohol & carbonated drinks can be harmful to you.

If you have a good doctor, your port wont flip, that is why its good to research. I was banded in june, no problems with my port. No flipping etc. Just depends on the doctor. But, from what I was told there is not pain associated, and I suppose that depends on the person.

Great video, but if you do the research pre-banding then you know that medical journal articles/literature pertaining to banding state no alcohol or carbonated beverages.< /p>

OMGoodness! Did she just stick the needle in for the adjustment w/o anesthesia! Hope I just missed it. I'd die w/o it.

No, you won't

I can barely feel my fill needle. It only takes a second. I imagine an anesthesia needle would hurt more. Why get stuck twice?

You will find your port bump can change on a weekly basis. One day it's sticking out, the next week it's a dent. Worry about how it looks & where it is once all your weight is off & you see where it ends up.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
