Count down to Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi Wheezie, my surgery date is May 12th so we are going to be doing this at the same time. My friend had hers Friday and she is doing very well. She says the main thing is to get up and start walking as soon as possible to move that gas around. She only had pain around one of her port sites, the one where they insert the band. She is planning on being back to work Tues. She is much younger than I am so I am planning on staying off for a full week. I am excited and can't wait for the day of surgery. There have been so many positive feedbacks from the folks on this site. These people will be a major support for me as the days go on. Their willingness to share and encourage me has been just a wonderful experience. I think the nicest people are having Lap Band surgery! LOL Becky

Good Luck to all of you. I am getting excited and nervous. My friend had her surgery Thursday and she is doing great. The only thing she suggested was to continue to take the pain medicine even if you felt like you didn't need it. Looking foward to hearing from you all.

Hey everyone... I'm banded, was done at noon yesterday, and was back home at 6:30, some minor discomfort, was up walking around, haven't had too much gas "YET" Have not needed to use any of the pain meds that they give you. My after care nurse told me I was a light weight when it came to pain meds... they gave me a liquid shot of it yesterday, and slepted for like an hour and a half. LOL Hope everyone else is doing good and has a successful banding too.

Hi everyone

Have not been on very much lately. Everything is going great. Had my first fill on June 4th. Don't fill much restriction. Have had a few problems with eating to fast and getting stuck because I forgot I was banded and went back to old eating habits. Weight loss pretty slow. Most of the weight loss was during the liquid stages. Go back for a second fill July 16th. Good luck to everyone.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
