Cost for out of pocket banding

Hi, could some of you respond by telling me what your srugery cost if you have to pay personally for it and where you had it done?

At this time my insurance does not include the coverage so I may have to pay. Just want to get some idea of the cost. I would not go to Mexico. Most likely just the Northeast US area.

I think US self-pay prices start around 10k, give or take 2k. There's someone in Colorado who seems to be the cheapest, they're maybe 8k-9k (don't remember).

Actually one of the ads on the right side just flickered $6,750, mylapbandsurgery.com.

I had mine done in Colorado. It cost me 9950.I am from WI.I am very happy with the doctor and the surgery.I had it done 12/19/07.I have lost about 40 lbs already.

Hi,

My insurance wouldn't pay...the cheapest I found in MN was 17K. Too expensive for me. So, I did go down to Mexico, paid $7500 and wouldn't trade the experience for the world. I have found a place that will do my fills here in MN. So far, all is well. It is unfortunate that the cost of health care in the US if pretty much out of reach for your common, everyday, blue-collar worker. I'm glad Mexico didn't discrimminate.

Kari

Dallas, TX area $15k - That covers a full yrs worth of fills (afterwards $100 each) & all aftercare appts.

Self pay at NYU is, if I remember correctly, around $24,000. However, I may have heard wrong. Luckily, insurance covered it 100%.

I ended up going threw surgeryloans.com for my finances. That's who my Dr goes threw for self payers. My surgery cost 14,100.oo..That's here is Louisiana..Plus that includes a whole year of fills and appointments.

I'm in Las Vegas and the cost out of pocket is $16,000 I know this because my insurance will only p/u $5000 total.

Can't wait. Surgery date is 4/21,

I am from Klamath Falls, Or. and I paid 9,999.00. This includes all appts, the psych eval, any preop tests and labs and all appts and fills for 1 year. It is a great program with a very detailed nutritionist seminar that's also included. The hospital is beautiful and the care is great. I am to be banded Mon 4-14 and I can't wait! I am so ready for this! It is well worth it. I would NEVER go to Mexico although I have heard of people who do and they seem to come back alive. Good luck, piautecutie

Hi Judy:

My costs ran about $20,000. The doctor charged $6,000 and the hospital charged $11,500 - which included the dietician - unlimited visits with no co-pays. It also includes education and support groups. Most of my pre-op visits were covered by insurance, but I had co-pays. I think it is totally worth it!

I live in Delaware. The group of doctors that do this surgery are called CHRIAS. The hospital was St. Frances.

My surgeon charges 23k with everything included in Eugene, Oregon. I have heard great things about a surgeon in Coosbay, Oregon tho for 10k.

My ins. excludes :mad:WLS. I paid $400 up front fee, and $12.5K all inclusive (dr./hospital fees) includes 2 yrs. fills. :thumbup:Dr. Trace Curry, Cincinnati. Had surgery April 8. Doing well, not very sore today.

Why won't you go to Mexico? My mom, dad, husband and myself are going to Mexico... we have heard nothing but absolutely fantastic stories about our surgeon and the experience in Mexico... the medical facility is by far outstanding and superior to most facilities in the US... less infection rate..... state of the art facility..... the surgeon there has done a very large number of surgeries and his slippage percentage is far lower than most US doctors..... just curious why you won't consider Mexico?

Kammi in Everett, WA

soon to be banded 5/27/08

Oh ps... it is only $7,500 there with a fill center near our home. Up here in WA state we were getting prices from $12,000 to $24,000 for this surgery.
