Hello, I was banded on April 3rd and I am on a liquid diet. At first I had to sip my water very slowly. Now I feel like I don't have to sip it. However, when I drink the water too fast, I get this tightness in my chest. It feels like indigestion. It is a little pain between my throat and the top part of my stomach and then it subsides when I burp. Does anyone else get this feeling? If this is how it feels when food gets stuck, I am going to make sure I chew my food until it disappears in my mouth!!!

I would say you need to continue to drink more slowly until that feeling goes away. You probably have post op swelling around the band.

I get that too if I eat to fast.

Thank you all very much for your responses. You are absolutely right. I am drinking slowly and no pain. Wow...I did not know what was happening and at least now I know to take it slow. My doctor told me that I would feel some restriction (he filled me with 4cc's during surgery + the swelling) and now I know what he means. I am happy that I learned this early on. Thanks again.

Your Doctor Put 4cc In Dureing Surgery?...hummm Mine Is Empty And I Have Never Heard Of That Befor...???

It's not uncommon for surgeons to put fluid in during surgery. I have a 10cc band and my surgeon put in 2.4 cc's on surgery day. I now have 6 cc's.
