Just my Luck, Back to Mexico

I went for a fluoroscopy fill this morning. Dr. McKeen accessed my port, not a problem. Proceeded to remove the pervious fill...nada, a few drops. puts 2 cc's in pulls out 1. Drink some Barium, I'm wide open. Puts 2 cc's in, drink some barium, still wide open...Hey lets go for 4cc's...wide open.

Time for Contrast, you could see it going up even pass the sleeve (the hole that was fixed a month ago) then stop right before the band. So now I turn sideways and the x-ray machine goes in for a close-up starting at my port. Add more contrast, follow up the tubing.

Big leak at the top of the sleeve, shooting out like your thumb on a hose.

They took lots of pictures/films. I just can't believe it!!

I walk out of the hospital and call Dr. Sanchez practically crying. He wants me back to Mx ASAP. I said I'm broke, and what are we going to do?

Re-place the tubing.

But what if the connection to the band starts leaking?

Re-place the band, and the manufacture has to pay for everything, they'll even reimburse my flight.

I'm so upset, I went out and had a chicken burrito and ate the whole thing.

food got me into this mess.

I know I'll be calling Dr. Sanchez back within a few days cause I have more questions. At this point I just want a new band even tho my current band looks great....Freakin tube leaks

I might fly out on April 1st, I hate these 5 hour flights..

Thanks for letting me vent, I'll keep you posted.

Vera, is there any way you can have him remove the band and get a new one in the US? Any changes or new insurance in your family? The past week has been hell on me and my friends involved in Mexico disasters. I am THIS close to having my band removed and fighting my insurance like mad till they pay for me to have one done in my own country. My head hurts for you.

Vera, that SUCKS! But I think you're right to demand a new band. Why risk having to go through yet another surgery? Unless there's a compelling medical reason not to place the band you're requesting, go for it. We're all rooting for you.

Vera, that really sucks! I hope you don't have to have two surgeries. I wish you the best. Since someone else is paying for this, it looks like you could choose who and where the surgery is performed. Errrrrr!

Vera, I'm so sorry to hear about your misfortune with the band. I pray that all will be well, and I wish you the best!!!!!

Vera good luck I hope all goes well!

So Sorry Vera that you have to go through this again. Hopefully this time you get what you wanted in the first place.

Dear Vera, I am so deeply sorry. I am praying that this will quickly be behind you and you'll be the better for it. I pray that you will put your trust in the Lord so. . .

Show me Your ways, O Lord, and teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long (Psalm 25:4--5). Remind me of the benefits that come from believing You and the losses that result from unbelief...

"I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test" (2 Corinthians 13:6).

I'm terribly sorry you're going through this, how awful! I'll keep you in my prayers.

We'll be in this one together, I'm going to be visiting Dr. Sanchez at the same time you are! Maybe we'll see each other down there?

I know I talked to you when you called, just want you to know hugs and prayers are there for you. Call me when you get beck into town and as soon as you can eat solids again, I'll take you to lunch.

HUGS,

Carol

What a disaster, kid - I'm so sorry!!!

Just one thought, though - if there's nothing wrong with the band itself, perhaps just replacing the tubing would be the way to go, since you're not having probs with the actual band? I am just so wary of messing with the stomach if not absolutely necessary, but certainly understand your wanting to put these problems behind you.

Hoping you get the best resolution that puts an end to these probs!

xxoo

Vera

We are sorry to here about your problem. We also went the Dr. Sanchez. I hope they take good care of you. Keep us updated. Deb and I will keep you in our prayers. I am amazed a how much weight you have lost with all the problems you have had. You seemed to be so head strong about your weight loss. That will carry you a long ways.

aw Vera what crap news - thinking of you here, and I REALLY hope they sort it out for you - ((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

4 Sucks, a Dang, a Crap and a total STINKS in this tread alone! I still try to have a sense of humor even thou Dr. Sanchez knows how sad I really am.

There has been so much going through my mind, Donali I think you put it best, cause my band is good, and in the perfect position.

Zoe, that's exactly how I feel.

Pat, the tubing is defective and the proof/tube has to be submitted, so I don't have a choice. Dr. Sanchez has done nothing wrong, the sleeve technique has been used before with success, just not on me.

My fear is of the new tubing springing a leak at the band connection and I'll be going right back again. Also what kind of tubing, the same type? No Way.

From the research I've done so far, If I don't have any adhesions and the stomach is in good shape. I should be able to be re-banded all in the same operation. That's what I prefer, cause I don't want to come back down there again for anything band related and I want the 9.75 Inamed band.

Leatha, thanks for returning my PM, That meant allot to me.

I fly out on wednesday 3/30 early and come home saturday 4/2. Isa I'll meet you that night at the guest-house.

Lisa, please don't worry, thanks for all your love.

Oh I do believe in the Lord, Judy. I know he is with me and loves me.

Thanks for all the prayers, I will check back, before I leave.
