Hair Loss....OMG

Recommended Posts

Nioxin helps stop it from falling out as much, it doesn't help to regrow hair. It also makes your hair feel thicker. I heard it is also great for bug bites.

Cindy,

Has your hair stopped falling out? I hope so.

Cindy,

Has your hair stopped falling out? I hope so.

Thanks for checking in Jill. I am still losing my hair and more than I want to. However, I am dealing with it vigilantly. I am increasing my Protein, taking 5000 mcg of Biotin and using Nixoin. Hopefully it will help.

I am at the point of looking for a little "hair hat". I really have very little hair in the front. I already had female pattern baldness before the surgery, and it's really awful now. The top of my head gets sunburned all the time and I notice that people look at the top of my head often when talking to me. I think a "hair hat" is going to be a good solution.

Foofy-

I am so sorry to hear that your are experiencing this. I truly understand what you are going through. What is a hair hat?

Cindy

PS: I was wondering where you have been lately? The Nymphs have been very quiet lately.

Hey HollyBerries,

Good to hear from you. I've been working out of town and just lurking occasionally on the site. Got back yesterday.

A "hair hat" is foofy-speak for a toupee. I need a little rug to cover just the top. I found this site on the internet and one of the pictures of their clients was just what I had in mind. I just have to make the decision to do it or not, because - I suspect that once you start wearing a hear hat you are kind of committed to it. People are going to notice if you stop....

I've been losing a lot of hair this week -- due to the chemo, of course. The medicine goes after fast-growing cells, which includes the cancer cells but also includes hair cells, as well as blood cells, which is why I have to be careful about infection and bleeding. Anyway, the drugs I'm on are not supposed to cause complete Hair loss but definitely thinning. I've read that you can lose up to 50 percent of your hair without it being noticeable. I have fine hair but a lot of it so it's not noticeable yet but I shed more than my dogs! :)

Anyway, next Friday, I'm either getting a cut or a wig, depending on how much hair I have left. I was also going to get some low lights to help make my brown/gray roots less noticeable without have to apply chemicals every six weeks, as I have in the past to stay blond. My hair should grow back when I'm through with chemo but it can take awhile and I'm not finished yet. If I knew for sure I was going to lose it all, I'd go ahead and shave it off but since that's not the likely scenario, I'm trying to make the best of what I have.

Hi, You've had some very good replies. I would only add that your doctor can tell you if it is "telogen hair loss", that is, the hair in the intact follicle is falling out, but is expected to regrow. Oral zinc pill and a good zinc Shampoo are often used. Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
