Worried about not wanting to eat - and liking it!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys and gals... so, today is Day Five after being banded. I feel great - tiny bit of shoulder pain and indigestion, but other than that, I'm good.

I've been using the ketone strips to see if I'm burning fat and I've never seen the colour so dark - I am fully in ketosis and burning like crazy.

I've actually gotten used to my routine of Water, electrolyte drink, Soup broth, a tea, and a crystal light at the end of the day. I wake up the next morning and I'm consistently down 0.5 - 1.0 pounds every day. I haven't been hungry, or if those are hunger pangs, I'm calling them healing pains, and ignoring them. I haven't been lethargic, I haven't felt dizzy, and I haven't really felt hungry. Today was my first day back to work and it was totally business as usual.

I'm almost worried about starting to eat again because I'm really loving the fact that I'm losing weight. I almost feel like this is how an anorexic would think. The whole point in me taking this relatively drastic step was because I finally admitted that I have an addiction to food and the volume of food that I eat is disproportionate to what I need. Right now, I feel like if I just don't eat, or give myself the option to eat, that I'm in control for once! And, I'll lose the weight that has been torturing me for years and years....

This is a very interesting psychological situation... I've never felt this way before.

Curious to know if anyone feels / felt the same way. What's your "two cents" on the subject?

Thanks!

It' new. It's different.

Believe me, it will wear off....one day. Then there will be a time you will want to eat...and alot...but can't. It's when old habits revisit.

Enjoy this time and remember, any weightloss before fills and restriction are a bonus!

It IS scary, isn't it!! Because for so long, we couldn't lose a real pound to save our lives and then suddenly it starts coming off. And the head hunger is overtaken by a yearning to become smaller and smaller...unreal.

Yes, Grace is right, though--you eventually WILL get some hunger back and you WILL chase demons--but you are developing the strength to stave them off right now!

The discipline we develop is amazing and I still can't believe what a different body and sense of being I have now. What a rush!!!

You have put it so well--I never would have dreamed something this wonderful could happen to me!! :)

I know what you mean, sizzling seven. I look at myself and say who are you??? It might be shock! The crazy thing is, when I was always on a diet and counting the minutes and seconds to the next time I could eat to space out my meals and calories I would drink Water to try and fill myself up. (never worked of course! ) Now, I wait and look forward until the next time I can drink Water, because I count the minutes and seconds from after I eat till when I can take a sip!! Go figure!

I also burp constantly (I posted about that somewhere else and didn't get too many replies):)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
