Condolences - Blossom

Recommended Posts

When I woke up this morning to recieve a PM from Philip about his sweet Blossom I was overwelmed.

I have no more words to type over my tears.

I would like to propose a time of mourning for our dear Blossom. In memory of her love & advise I am not going to post today after this. The boards will remain quiet for a day. That I may take this day to think soulfully of her & her family.

She will forever be missed & in my prayers are her family.

Respectfully,

Christina

Sending all my love and condolences to Philip and Blossom's family and loved ones. It is truly a shock to read this tragic news. Carolyn will truly be missed, and may her light continue to shine brightly in all the lives she has touched here on earth.

Phillip, here is a poem I wrote that I hope gives you some peace. Losing a loved one and a soul mate is always hardest on the ones left behind. We sometimes run the gamut of emotions from anger to deep depression. Know this is normal and you are truly loved not only by God but by your darling Carolyn sitting at his feet. This is a sad time for us all and my prayer for you is to find peace.

Blossom will be missed.

ETERNITY

by: Penni Merrick

Is there Love after we die?

Can there be Love in eternity?

I would dream of that day.

I imagine Love in eternity is perfect and never-ending.

Would that be my dream?

I will run to Love in eternity?<O:p</O:p

I’m in total shock. My deepest sympathy to Philip and her family. I’m sadden and my heart feels heavy in grief.

I remember when Blossom came into lives, I remember her posting pics of herself and asking us to vote which one to use as an avatar. Then I remember her picture gone and I asked her why and she remarked “I live in a small town and a bariatric doctor just opened an office here and will be doing bands. I don’t want to be recognized.”

I know she often talked of gardening and I’ve decided to plant a flowering tree in her honor. It will grow in view of the lake.

Carolyn you will be missed.

There are absolutely no words that I can say to give comfort. May she rest in peace knowing how much she effected all of us here at LBT. She will surely be missed.

My heart goes out to all of Blossom's family, especially her beloved husband, Phillip. It is so hard to let go of someone so young and vital. Blossom is a beautiful and gentle spirit who will be missed by many. She will live on through all the lives she touched with her kindness and caring. She is a shining light for those left behind.

In deepest sympathy,

Becky

Dear Lap Band Forum Members,

I have just finished reading all the posts regaurding the loss of my sweet Blossom. I am moved beyond words, I now know truly that Carolyn was a very special person. She always went to you guys for help and encourgement when she was feeling down or unsure of her band progress. Everyone of you helped make her the sunny wonderful person she was, is in my life . And for that I am thankful to all of you. For your comfort know that the last day of Carolyn's life was a happy and beautiful day, that she was smiling right up to the last seconds of her life. She had enjoyed the whole day on our land. We got there about 9:30am, and she started dragging brush into a pile. Then she helped me cut down a few trees on the house site and pile that brush in a pile. We had lunch at the Mountain Springs General store cafe, she had a salad. After lunch we were back at the land, and while I dug up a tree stump in the driveway she took a hour long nap under a shade tree. I had to replace the Water temp gauge on the tractor, so when I was done the engine had to be ran to make sure it worked. Carolyn would always jump at the chance to drive the tractor so away she went. I had used the tractor to pull several small ceadar trees from the ground before so I wanted to use the tractor to remove one more before calling it quits for the day. The tree was small and leaning over from being ran over by a truck, so when Carolyn demanded that she could do the job, I could not refuse her. That was the biggiest mistake of my life. It happened so fast that I could not reach her in time to pull her from harms way. Earlier she asked if we could stay out there till dark and listen to the donkeys bray. She died at 5:15 pm, and I stayed by her side till EMS had to take away. that was at 7:00pm. Sweet Blossom got to stay there on our land till dark. Thank you for all the love and support you all have given to my sweet wonderful wife, you helped make her life a happy one. Philip

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
