Lost 100 lbs? What band do you have??

Recommended Posts

Alright all you WLS vets... and you KNOW who you are. Even if you haven't gotten to goal yet, if you've lost a significant amount of weight (especially those of 100 pounds or more), I want to know what kind of band you have. AND...I'm not above naming names so give me the goods, or ELSE...

Well, I've lost almost 100 lbs, does that count?

I don't think the kind of band matters. They all work the same way. But mine is an Inamed that holds 4cc of saline.

What really matters is getting the right fill level and following most of the guidelines most of the time. The reason I'm not at goal or closer to it is because I stopped following the guidelines for awhile. Now that I am again, the weight is coming off. And I will get there. Maybe by the end of 2009 even! :Banane43::embaressed_smile::frown::mad::(:Banane39::Banane49::Banane27::eek:

Hi: What are those "guidelines" you refer to? I'm just considering the Lapband. I'm really sold on the idea but I have a friend who is my "devil's advocate" and wants to have bypass surgery for herself. I guess my main concern is being able to eat enough to not feel light-headed, maintain nutrition, and possible continue taking my supplements for flaxseed/antioxidants (a rather large capsule) Any advice? Thanks!

They are often called 'The Rules"

They are;

Not to drink while eating

Not to drink 30 minutes before, and 30 minutes after a meal

Exercise

Eat Protein first (although personally, I don't)

Not to drink calories

I have the Inamed 10cc band. Size large. I think.

You really do need to follow the WLS rules - if you do you will lose so much faster. In six months I have lost more than most women gastric bypass patients. I am usually the "biggest loser" at our monthly support meetings.

I am so happy now and my energy level is so high and I don't hurt anywhere anymore.

Good luck to you! You will never reqret getting the band.

Here's the guidelines that I have, most are some variation of this. Sorry, I hope I didn't come across as sounding snippy! I didn't mean it that way. :cheers2:

Guidelines:

• No liquid calories [except 2 servings of non fat milk (2 x 8 oz = 16

oz/day)] (16 grams of protein)

• No soft foods

• Two 3-4 ounce servings of protein/day (2 X 21-28 = 42-56 grams of

protein)

• Always eat the Protein first, then the vegetables

• Avoid bread, Pasta, rice, potatoes and other starchy foods

• 20-25 grams of Fiber a day (Examples: bran Cereal, fruits,

vegetables, beans)

• Eat only three small meals a day with maybe one small planned snack

• Eat slowly and chew thoroughly

• Stop eating as soon as you feel full

• Do not drink while you are eating

• Do not eat between meals except for a planned snack

• Eat only good quality foods

• Avoid tough stringy foods

• Drink plenty of liquids during the day (48-64 ounces) between meals

• Drink only low calorie liquids

• Exercise at least 30 minutes per day

Molly I also have the 4 cc lapbanc I have had 3 fills for a total of 2.5 cc.

The oly thing I would add to your list is to make sure you cut up your Protein into small pencil erarser pieces.

Remember chew, then chew, then chew some more.

I am close to 100lbs. I have an Inamed AP small 10cc band.

Currently I have 5.3 cc in my band and I am considering a slight unfill because I am getting stuck a whole lot.

I have a 4cc Inamed band... down to 0.5cc's in it (most ever was 1.5cc), and probably getting that all taken out next week.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
