    Tight Band During Traveling

Don't know if you flew or not but flying always tightens me up for a few days and then goes back to normal.
  2. WOW-chill pill needed. I have lost 150 lbs and count any Water based drink as water. Think before you "speak".

I Went To This Other Forum and Kinda Wished I Hadn't...

I have lost 149 and am still losing. I don't understand why people would say that. I never heard it until quite recently,
  4. Hi- I have been banded since 2007 and have maintained a 140+ weight loss and continue to lose slowly. In the beginning I exercised about an hour a day 5-6 times a week-mostly walking, Now I try to exercise 3 times a week for 20 minutes. Since it is so cold here, I am riding my inside bike and doing some yoga. With this in mind though I probably spend 4-5 hours a day on my feet. I think exercise is important-it helps with depression and overall health and it is something good I can do to take care of myself. Like everything else with this lapband experience, everyone is different, Marathon running is not mandatory. We hear more about this on the board because people enjoy it as a "hobby" and are rightly proud of themselves for earning such an accomplishment after a lifetime of inactivity, Find what fits into your lifestyle-If it is not doable you won't do it!!!

    Small Food

I have had a fun experience I would like to share. It started by seeing a Bento Box on a WLS blog. A bento box is a kind of Japanese traditional lunch box, The one I ordered is a modern makeover, dishwasher safe and microwavable. You can see it here food and it is better thought out. Some of the things I have brought-a tomato, a hardboiled egg, refried Beans, bits of cheese and crackers, carrots, half a sweet potato, prunes, grapes and almost always a tablespoon of light blue cheese dressing. Another benefit is that I think before I move to the next box-Sometimes I forget to ask myself-Gee, am I really hungry?-and this seems to help to remind me. It has worked so well that I think I will pack another box after work for the second part of the day. Maybe it is the novelty, but it is working! I really plan my shopping and meals better since I tried this. Let me know if you have any questions.

If your band is tighter in the morning...

This is very common. I have read and heard of this many times and is true for me. I think it is just the nature of the band, just respect the way you feel and eat accordingly.
  8. I rewarded myself with a rescue dog when I reached goal. She brings me great joy. It feels good to know I saved her life while extending my own.

New To Site and The Process

The experience of the surgery varies so mush from person to person. I had an easy time of it. Now that I have lost so much weight every day of my life is more comfortable. I would do it again in a minute. This is a very personal decision. Make sure you research and are fully committed before you schedule the surgery. Best of luck!

    hello

Welcome that is great news! I am glad you found this board. Lots of good info and kind people.
  13. I have gone through a similar experience. I am 3.5 years out and gained 21 pounds over the course of a year of maintenance. I made lots of poor food choices (many involving ice cream!) On New Years day I decided to start like it was day one. Mushies for several days and then planning my meals and writing everything down. Exercise had also fallen by the wayside so I have committed to at least 20 minutes 3 times a week. I think that this is a learning process and its going to take more that 3 years to master it. Start by forgiving yourself an start taking care of yourself. It's a decision that is not too hard to live with with our bands! By the way I am down 8 pounds this month-like the good old days! Best of luck.

PLEASE GIVE ME IDEAS FOR MUSHIES!!!

Whip up so low fat cottage cheese in the blender or food processor. Add some splenda and vanilla for a sweet treat. I also add sugar free Torani syrup to it. It tastes like a mousse and is high in Protein, low in fat.
  15. You can make a quick, delicious low cal cheesy sauce using a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese (several different flavors and 35 calories) add a little milk and stir up with a small whisk. Good to go, delish and low cal.

    Problem with doctor

Remember the doctor works for you and not vice versa, you can fire him if you like!
  17. The lap band was a success for me-the best health decision I ever made. Its not perfect, but it worked for me. It seems like it is working for you also!

    What is PBing????

This is my experience-you know how when you have a regular burp-air comes up with varying amounts of force. With PBing, more than air comes up, can be either food or liquid. This is not reflux, it is not acidic, These substances come from your small stomach. Personally I seem to pb when I have gas and the other stuff comes along for the ride. I hear many people describe it as being caused by certain foods or overeating. I am sure there is a lot of variation.

    Brownies!! Yikes!!

A second vote for the No Pudge Fudge Brownies! They are delicious. They are 110 calories for 1/12 of a box. You can also use the mix to make one at a time, which might be a good way to limit the number of servings. Tell your hubby to have his brownies at a restaurant!

    Diet coke post -op

Two things I had to quit before my surgery were diet coke and candy. Proud to say I have had neither for 2.5 years. I do enjoy drinking flat soda once in a while. I leave the bottle loosely capped on the counter for a few days. Ice helps to minimize the carbonation also. My doctor never said no soda, but carbonation is uncomfortable for me. So I still have a diet rootbeer or gingerale, but always flat. I really don't miss the diet coke at all!
  23. The fruits are great-Love the bananas and pear!
  24. I have lost almost 150 and have no plans to have PS. I am simply thrilled that the skin is no longer filled with fat. I look fine in clothes am not one to worry about how I look in a bathing suit (after all I did wear one in public at 330 lbs). I wear three quarter or longer sleeves and longer skirts and shorts and am fine with the way I look and feel.
