Plastic Surgery

Recommended Posts

I think I am going to stop posting because every time I do there is another new piece of drama. Want to hear the rest?

First the surgeon quoted me 6500 + 2000 for surgery center and anethesiologist. Today they call back and quote 9998 + 3500.:frown: I can't afford that.

So I called the doc that is in town, explained the situation again and the got me in for a consult TOMORROW! The receptionist said that she had never seen the doc charge that much for a TT even if it was an extended TT.

Seriously this has been the roller coaster ride from hell!

why the huge jump in price?

Because he says that it is going to be that complex. In my opinion he just doesn't want to do the surgery. He flat out told me that I would not be happy with the results because of the lack of elasticity in my skin and the fact that I will essentially have a vertical scar going from groin to breast. No matter how much I reassured him that I just wanted these awful rolls gone, he wasn't convinced. So they are claiming because of the extensive MR (which my lap-band surgeon didn't even think I would need) that it is going to take much longer. Also they are figuring that the after care is going to be much more extensive so it is going to cost me more. I think it will be better to get a second opinion anyways. I know my belly looks horrific but I didn't think it was THAT bad. I NEVER plan on wearing a bikini and the only one that is going to see my scar is my DH so it is not a big deal to me. Fortunately the doctor in town was able to get me in tomorrow and her receptionist has been incredibly nice and helpful so I this whole catastrophe may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Thanks for riding along in my crazy roller coaster ride. I guess this is fitting since my whole lap-band process started on July 10 and ended on August 9 with ZERO drama.

FINALLY GOOD NEWS! The waiting, wondering, and worrying are all over. Just like everyone said the best situation would appear. Thanks for putting up with me:wub:. This doctor blew me out of the Water. She answered all of my questions BEFORE I even asked them. She detailed EVERYTHING that I would go through. So the price was a little higher than I had hoped, but is still within my budget. My surgery will be July 3. Two days after my birthday!!!! The greatest b-day gift I will ever get!

Been following your PS story, Salsa. Congrats on setting a surgery date and hope you get the results you are looking for. I also hope that you will keep us updated throughout your process. It is so helpful to the rest of us that are considering PS in the future.

Congratulations!!!:redface::thumbup:

What did this D. say about MR??

This doc said that I will most likely need some but she won't know the extent until she gets in there. She didn't seem to think that I would need as much as the last doc did. Plus she inserts a pain pump:thumbup: which from what I heard is a VERY nice thing. She didn't talk much about the MR but focused mainly on the fact that I was going to need the vertical incision (a T-incision) which is not very common. I have been looking for pictures online but most docs don't post them on their before and afters because they aren't as "pretty" as a non-T incision surgery. I will have a scar that runs from the groin to the breastbone along with the horizontal extended Tummy Tuck scar. But it is much better than the flabby Jabba-the-Hut looking rolls that I have right now!

Wow - I really am impressed that you're diving in (and a tad jealous, but I'll get there eventually).

Confession.. I've been playing about with my belly fat/rolls trying to figure out what a TT would do for me. I have a feeling eventually I'll be at a point where I could get rid of most of my scars from the banding (maybe a couple of the teeny higher pokeholes would stay), and I would probably get rid of my appendectomy scar from HS!! Because it was in the 80's and because I was so close to having my appendix rupture (and because it grew with my belly), it's pretty big, with staple-marks all along it, so it would be nice to get rid of it once and for all. For now, it's all hidden under my belly-flap, but if things tightened up, it would be nice to have it gone!

Anybody else spend time at the mirror flopping stuff around? C'mon... admit it!!

LOL!!! Hey....I never thought of doing that! My "flap" admission.....it's where I tuck my napkin at dinner so it doesn't fall off my lap. Do I really want to lose that????????

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
