Hi Bandsters! I can feel my port so easily when I lightly circle around it with my fingers. I had an excellent surgeon and it's placed just below my ribcage on the right hand side. The site is not swollen or sore, nor have I lost a significant amount of weight. Is my ability to feel the "face" of my port unusual?

I was banded last week on the 26th and now that the swelling has gone down I can feel my port as well. Doc told me that would happen and it's completely normal.

What a bummer than now you are so skinny you can feel your port! Just kidding. I have been able to feel mine for a long time and it's totally NORMAL! Yours is in the same place as mine. In fact, when some people get a Tummy Tuck later, they move the port because it's RIGHT THERE! So, good for you!!!

Oh yes... I can definitely feel my port! It gets more prominent as I lose weight, too. Doesn't bother me, though.... I LOVE my band (and port!)!!

Thank goodness! The port should be easily accessable to the doc for fills.

It shouldn't poke out or anything and standing w/o clothing on the abdomen, such as a bikini...you shouldn't see it.

But boy... we KNOW it's there!

I just recently was able to feel the entire face of my port as well. I am now down to 230 pounds, and I sometimes have trouble lying on my stomach as it pokes into me. My surgeon said that I might want to replace it with a flat version when I'm done losing weight.

I was banded on 1/10, and have always been able to feel my port. Even my hubby once in a while will touch my abdomen, and check out my port. Very weird, but very normal!

I think the port is supposed to be where you can feel it, for ease in getting fills.

Some people have the port repositioned after losing a lot of weight, to make it less noticeable.

I was banded last week and I can really feel my port. I know it will make for an easy fill but Im pissed. I asked my Dr for the low profile one and after surgery he said he didn't put it in and if I lost enough to be able to see it make a bump on the surface I could get it replaced. Im ticked because he did this to be easier for him(fills) not me. Now I will have to have another surgery later. :blushing:

Ps most of my weight is distributed around my body and my past weight loss Ive lost my tummy first.

My port is in my belly button and even if I just run my hand over it, I can feel it. I figure there's less of a chance for the doctor to miss the port if he can easily find it. Maybe after I've lost all of this weight I'll care about the aesthetics of a small bump around my belly button. Right now -- no one's looking at my belly button except me and my DH. And he's doesn't care either.

I like to poke and play with my port :cursing:

I pretend I'm an alien or a robot that disconnected from my dock.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
