March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Thanks for the info Harley. I have to admit it is something rare and mostly is flat diet soda. I guess I will have to just get ice Water from now on. I paid a LOT for this thing and I certainly don't want to screw it up.

My doc says no carbonation.....ever. I'm sticking with that. I do miss my Diet Coke, but I'll survive.....better for me anyway. I've heard several different reasons why, but "because I said so" is good enough for me.....paid a lot of money for this, so I'll just follow what the doc tells me................most of the time.

I do drink soda occassionally, but only when there is nothing else available.. Also, coffee was to be a no-no, but my surgeon told me if it didn't bother me to go ahead and drink it. It makes my mornings so much more bearable, having the morning cup!!

On the topic of soda... I gave it up a few months before I had to just to make sure I could live without it. Haven't really had any except for a couple of sips a few months ago, only to find out it tasted like crap!!! I can't believe how my taste buds heave changed! I was a diet pepsi-aholic!!! Had to have it every morning and could easily go thru a 2 liter a day myself!!!! Now, its just me and my crystal light or water... who would thought!?!?!? Not missing it at all, and as far as the kick in the morning I drink crystal light energy, it has caffeine and B Vitamins. It does pick me up!!!

Just wanted to let all of you know my BIL got out of Helen Hayes Hospital on Wed. He's spending a few months with his family upstate so they can help him with rehab. So this is my first free weekend and I'm spending it with my grandchildren . It feels strange not having to rush around to get everything done at home so I can run to the hospital to take care of him . I feel liberated . I hope that doesn't sound selfish .

Christine--

When you have had gastritis in the past -- did your primary prescribe medication like Protonix or something else? I had gastritis prior to banding and still have my pills (which I have not been taking). I spoke to a nurse you had banding and she told me that if we were taking pill for gastritis before -- we should continue taking them for 1 year after banding because it helps food go down and digest better. I agree with Harley and Tess----call your surgeon.

I'm still having quite a bit of pain. So tired of this. Now I am refluxing some cottage cheese I had at around 7PM, and don't want to try to lay down to sleep again. I will call the surgeon's office tomorrow.

I start a new job tomorrow AM, so I guess I will go sit in the recliner and try to sleep. This really bites!

On a nappier note....Happy Birthday Jonathan!!

(Amanda, thanks for slipping in the picture....great to put a face with the name.)

MsCathy-- don't feel selfish at all. I had some of the same feelings of being liberated when my mother's husband that had Alzheimers and needed 24 hours a day care finally passed away that gave both her some rest and freedom as well as for me too. It is a natural release and its God's blessing to you to now rest content in that you did all you could.

Hi Shamrocks!

Ms Cathy: Don't feel guilty for being human! Holy cow it has been a long time you took care of him. I'd feel liberated as well! Now you have more time to spend on taking care of yourself. You deserve it.

Christine: I had a tiny thing happen this weekend that made me feel for you. I hope you get better soon! I ate some sweet potatoe that I had mashed up. Apparently it was too stringy or something because it did not go down the right way. I didn't PB, but it was horrible. It is possible that I am wuss. I have to tell you that it was one of the worse food experiences I have had since I had the band. I know yours is 100 times worse, so you have my sympathy and empathy!

Funny thing, before my little experience this weekend I was considering getting a fill. I think I'll wait a little longer.

Well, hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Hmmmm.... its gotten really quiet on here lately!!! :)

We need to get some excitement going on!!!! 2 days left before the candy holiday!! Haven't gotten into the bags of candy yet, however, I baked some cut out sugar Cookies... I have had a couple but not too many. It's ok as long as I keep my activity level up!!!!

Harley - I wanted to tell you that I loved the everyday mineral make up and I have officially converted, I just sent in an order for myself after trying the samples... Good suggestion!!! Thank you!!!

Christine - How's the reflux?? Did you have a good first day on your new job??

Anyone concerned about the next holiday... Thanksgiving??? I chickened out, and signed up to work, and I am sending my family over to my SIL's. Just didn't want to bother with it this year!!!

I'm not buying ANY Halloween candy....we're going over to a friend's house for chili and game night, so won't be home for trick or treaters....Caitlin is old enough to drive herself to the store if she wants candy....so it's just best it's not here!

I've managed at work so far with just one fun sized packet of Skittles....they weren't even that good, so I think I'll make it the rest of the week!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
