I am also from MN! I am still waiting for insurance approval..they told me to allow 10 business days... I am on day #2!

Hi Mel, my surgery date is the same as yours, from MN here. I am so looking forward to it, keeping myself busy at night on this site from chatting, to reading posts, to start buying the stuff I will need afterwards. Best of luck to you.

I am also new. My appointment to find out when is February 15th. I can't wait. I too am excited. I kissed salt good bye last week and that was easy. My blood pressure is really high right now. I feel that the surgery can't be too soon.

Hi everyone, I´m writing to you guys from Czech Republic in the middle europe:tongue:I´m a part of a group of people where we all had the all kind of bariatric surgery done- as band, bypass, resection. We have same sort of web page where we all talk about our problems and results. As I used to live in England for a long time i speak english with no problems therefore time to time I go to your pages read some of your stuff and then translated to the other guys from the Czech band forum. Many questions came up about filling the band. Non of us really know how many fillings we can have and how much liquid they can actually put into the band to make it tighter. I´ve tried to find the answers in here but as here is so many people and so many chapters i got a bit confussed and I didn´t find the answer. So please if anyone can answer me I´d be very pleased. Also if you´d like to know anything about surgery and life in the Czech Republic, please do not hesitate to ask:lol:

I'm new... I've actually been on the site a lot lately, but wasn't sure when my surgery date was so I didn't want to post yet. Didn't want to jinx anything. My surgery date is February 20th. I was so excited on January 1st when I got approved from my insurance, but now I am just nervous as all get out after getting my surgery date. It doesn't seem like it is really gonna happen. Did anyone else feel like this? Anyways, I'm glad to be here and to have found a community of people who will understand what I am about to go through!!!

Hi Mel, I am happy to hear about your upcoming surgery on the 20th of this month I am truly excited for you it is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me to date and as I am six weeks into it already I can see results every morning when I wake up 'I am shrinking' as you will very soon. Mel the hardest part for me was the liquid diet stage before the op, I hated that but I did it steadfastly and stuck to my guns. If you have any problems during this stage please don't hesitate to email me I will be more than happy to share my experience with you, I found it difficult but I knew that it had to be done so that my liver could shrink before surgery, so I hope you have a good journey and thankyou for your lovely message yesterday I did reply I hope you got it, goodnight & God bless

Feb 20th is my surgery date also. I start my pre op diet tomorrow. Boy am I anxious. I really cannot believe that it's going to happen. I have overloaded myself with lap band information, read so many posts and they have been very helpful. I truely feel like my life will be re started after Feb 20th.

Barb

Hi Newbarb45, Welcome and thankyou for your message, You are right from tomorrow onwards it all starts for you, you have been given a second chance to start again, you are without a doubt very lucky. For me this experience has been so rewarding & exciting and such a positivie one. I am so very happy with it all, today I went swimming at the gym something I would never have done before my op, it felt wonderful and I felt really alive and proud to be doing it. Tomorrow you start your liquid phase just remember that it is only for a short time and it is so worth doing, I won't lie, I did not like this stage but stuck in there knowing that it was for my own good, to shrink my liver before the op, it was hard going from solids to liquid but the end result is heaven. Good luck with it all I'll be thinking of you goodnight

Yes I feel just the same. I have waited over 18 months since first deciding to get to her (my date is march 19). I still think I will feel like it wont happen until I am back in the ward and its all over. Goodluck with your journey.

Hi there thanks so much for the message, I'm very happy to hear from you. Congratulations it's exciting isn't it? You are going to have the time of your life you will be undertaking an exciting journey and believe me it begins well before your surgery date. I remember when I was told of my impending surgery date I couldn't sleep for many nights, and as the day of surgery grew nearer I was so very excited that I could think of nothing else. I have loved every step of my journey so far with the exception of the liquid diet, for me that was the hardest part, anyway again congratulations your on your way, goodnight

Thanks for the words of encouraement. I am on day 3 of this low carb diet. My doctor does not require a liquid diet but a very low carb, high protien diet. It's difficult at times but I am focused, I want the prize in the end. I will be 45 yrs old on March 18th. I could not think of a better birthday gift to give myself other than this surgery. My daughter is going off to college in the fall and I am sigle so I will have so much more time to devote to bettering me. This is my 1st major step in creating the NU Barb

Thanks again for the support

WILLOW:

Your Dr needs to tell you what kind of band you have and how much Fluid it holds. Everyone has a different stomach inside, so people need less Fluid to make the band work and some need more. As you lose weight and lose more stomach fat, the band might need another fill.

Some Dr. put a small amount of fluid at the time of surgery, some don;t.

Dr.'s have different guidleines for how often they are willing to give a patient a fill and how much they put in at each fill.

I have an Allergan/Inamed band that holds 10cc's and I have approx 6cc's in the band. This manufacturer also has a larger 14 cc band.

There is a "thread" on the forum about "how fills work" by Wendell, that explains the fill process. You can do a "search" if you can;t find it. The search box is at the upper right of the page.

Hope that helps!

Hi Newbard45

You are doing a really good thing for yourself, sometimes we need to think of ourselves first and it is good to hear that you are because you are definitely worth it and you know what life is too damn short. I too am 47yrs and for the first time in my life I decided to put myself first, ahead of my children and all. When I told my husband and daughter of my decision to be banded they were in absolute and utter shock, they simply couldn't believe that I would do something like that and tried to talk me out of it, I will be honest with you it all frightened me a little but I pushed through negativity and apposition and finally did something great for myself and I haven't regretted it since, I love every single step of this journey and am so excited about what is ahead for me, look out world here I come, or should I say here we come!!!!! I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
