I'm new... I've actually been on the site a lot lately, but wasn't sure when my surgery date was so I didn't want to post yet. Didn't want to jinx anything. My surgery date is February 20th. I was so excited on January 1st when I got approved from my insurance, but now I am just nervous as all get out after getting my surgery date. It doesn't seem like it is really gonna happen. Did anyone else feel like this? Anyways, I'm glad to be here and to have found a community of people who will understand what I am about to go through!!!

melbel-

i am new also. I just found out about this website in my group session at Doctors office today. I was banded Dec. 7th and have lost 24 pounds. It has been a lot of adjustments for me. I have had 4 adjustments and hopefully this one will be the final for a while. I'm glad your insurance covered yours. Mine didn't because I didn't have any of the diseases that qualify you for that, but it was worth it paying for it. I am in Chicago. Where are you?

Terri,

I'm in Chicago too, and really just getting started on my journey and such. I've just got my first PCP appointment this week to talk with her about getting a referral for a doctor. Where did you go to get banded? Any Advice for someone who is has been reading about this for over a month and has decided to take the plunge?

Hi Mel, my surgery date is the same as yours, from MN here. I am so looking forward to it, keeping myself busy at night on this site from chatting, to reading posts, to start buying the stuff I will need afterwards. Best of luck to you.

Hi Melbel!!! Congratulations on getting your date! I am sure that you are full of emotions right now. Don't worry....you will do great! I just got banded on Monday and it has not been bad at all. I felt the same way that you do- I was excited and nervous (I still am).

Glad to find this site, have visited others...but like the "band-only" theme here.

Banded last Wed (Jan 30th, 2008), cramping has been a bugger, but getting easier now at day 5.

Wondering how many of you (new/old) remember if you had that "sticking feeling" when no matter what you drank or sipped on, it felt like it was hanging there, and then trickiling down eventually ?

Thnaks!

Hi Tammy, congrats on the beginning of your new journey on Valentine's Day, no less. I am also new, but I started my journey the first week in November and I am now awaiting insurance approval, woohoo!! I'm hoping to be banded in March or early April, hope to make lots of new friends and gain support by coming here. I've been reading a lot on this website and I'm glad I found it. Teri

Hi everyone I too am a newbie bandit, I had my surgery 6 weeks ago and have been very happy with it all since. I have been trying very hard to adjust to all the new changes that are needed in order to succeed on my new journey. I have lost approximately 10kg and am extremely pleased with this result, I feel very little hunger and am experiencing some really positive things such as sleeping much better at night, not taking any medication anymore whatsoever and having heaps more energy, it's absolutely wonderful, I feel that I have finally taken control of my life again thank GOD because for a while there I had just about given up on myself, so for who ever out there is thinking about taking this lapband journey simply don't think, just DO! you won't regret it, this device helps you so much it's truly remarkable. Good luck to all

Feb 20th is my surgery date also. I start my pre op diet tomorrow. Boy am I anxious. I really cannot believe that it's going to happen. I have overloaded myself with lap band information, read so many posts and they have been very helpful. I truely feel like my life will be re started after Feb 20th.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
