  1. this is so normal...I had the same thing...I had no idea I had a hernia...my daughter had lap band on Wed..and she also had a hernia....this is very common...
  2. read your post op instructions..what did your doctor order??
  3. Ladies, Take a deep breath and just relax..the hard knot under the large incision ...it is your port...I felt the same thing and I called the doctor's office and the nurse just cracked up laughing...she said, " Honey, that is your port"
  4. Honey, don't wait until tomorrow...I have had open heart sugery at 48 years old...please don't wait until tomorrow, call your local 911 and get some medical attention....You don't have to have any one type of symptom to be having a heart attack...every case is different....PLEASE CALL 911....
  5. what is the PAPAYA ENZYME TABLET??? I have never heard of this....

good luck to you...I hope the surgery is everything you hoped it would be...as for me, it has been a real blessing..I have lost a total of 84 lbs in 24 months...I am totally happy with this...
  7. don't beat yourself up...hang in there and just try to make better choices the next time...we have all fallen off the wagon a time or two....
  8. hang in there...take one day at a time...
  9. The fill is not painful...i was so scared...and after it was over i was so shocked...it does not hurt...you will be amazed at how painless it is...
  10. No, you need to get more calories if you are working out 50 minutes a day..you are burning to many calories and this will stop your weight loss...you have to have enough calories or your body will think it is starving and it will start holding on and not burn any fat...don't skip meals, add calories to replace what you lose in working out...
  11. Bless your heart...you are faced with multiple problems right now...the loss of your husbands job, the building of a new home, then trying to conceive...wow...okay...take a deep breath and just sit back and think about the pro's and con's...you are the only person that can make this decision...the surgery was a life saver for me...i would do it over again and again...i was a self pay...but truly worth every penny... I wish you all the luck in the world..i hope that all your dreams come true...but you know that only you can decide what is best for you and your husband...
  12. That is great advice, barbara...she said it all....make good choices, and just take it one day at a time...
  13. Allison, Live and learn...that is the way you get thru this...you will soon find what your band will tolerate and what it won't...hang in there ....take it easy...
  14. congrats on your decision to have the surgery...I wish you all the best..good luck...
  15. he can have Jello Water, or maybe some decaffe tea...skim milk, don't worry about him not wanting anything..that is normal...just let him take it slow and easy for a few days and he will be able to tolerate more liquids...just be sure to drink slowly..do not gulp... Good luck to him ...I hope that his recovery is a fast one...
  16. Okay....if you have only been banded for a week, why are you eating???? Did you not have to go back on liquids for two weeks?? I know that all doctors are different...maybe you didn't have to do this...anyway...one week out you are still swollen...don't worry about weight loss at this point..in fact, i wouldn't weigh myself...don't weigh until you go back to the doctor for your first two week check up...
  17. I was sore, but didn't have any problems with going to restroom....nor did i have any problems cleaning myself...
  18. Whatever you want to eat..you just can't eat as much...try to make good choices...the only thing that is really a no-no for me...is bread from like olive garden...i can't eat that...so i don't even try....i don't eat pop-corn, i never, never drink cokes, not even diet cokes...carbonated drinks are not allowed...i have to remember to chew, chew, chew, and eat slowly....and i never...drink with my meals...i stop drinking liquids 30 min. Before my meals and i don't drink for 1 hour after a meal...if you do, it washes the food thru your band and you will be hungry before it is time to eat...if you don't drink liquids your food will filter slowly thru your band and you will stay full longer...
  19. You should be fine....you will be well on your way to recovery and you will be fine....just enjoy the cruise and take it easy.....congrats on your 20 year anniversary...
  20. Yahoooo...that is awesome...way to go.....i am so happy for you.....
  21. Malory, This is a very easy surgery...you will be put under, but wake up really fast..or at least that was my experience...you will have lots of gas pains, but I just took liquid gas-x..I went back for surgery at 9:30 a.m. and was home by 11:00 a.m....I was at a surgery center.. REMEMBER: FOLLOW YOUR DOCTORS INSTRUCTIONS..... DO EXACTLY AS HE TELLS YOU.....WORK WITH YOUR BAND...DON'T TRY TO SEE HOW MUCH YOU CAN EAT(WHEN YOU ARE ABLE TO EAT) SEE HOW LITTLE YOU CAN EAT AND STILL BE FULL.... GOOD LUCK....I HOPE ALL GOES WELL FOR YOU...
  22. I can take her or leave her....sometimes she is okay and others, she just gets on my nerves...and yes, so does Paula Deen....I am really sick of seeing her on everything...

yes, it is normal to feel some hunger...you will not have restriction until after your fill...some get no restriction until after 2 or 3 fills....just hang in there...and please....follow your doctors instructions...if he/she says not to eat anything solid, then don't...I have seen where more lapband patients just ignore the doctors orders and then are so disappointed that they don't lose the weight...
  24. Hello Alicia...congrats on your banding...the gas will go away after a couple of days...just take some liquid gas-x..it really does help...I tried the gas-x strips, but they didn't work as well....take your meds and just try to relax...the soreness and gas pains will go away...and you will feel much better...hang in there...it is a great journey...
