Hardness in belly... is this my band

Recommended Posts

Hi all... I have searched through the threads to see if someone else had posted about this, but I give up and will just ask!!!

I was banded 11/26/07 and (knock on wood) haven't had any complications. I had my first fill three weeks ago.

On saturday night I ate too much... I hate fish, a little broccoli and two helpings of salad (it was sooooo yummy). I probably ate a cup or so total even tho my doc told me not to eat more than 1/2 cup total.

A little while after I ate I started to feel tightness around my band which was a little uncomfortable but not unbearable. So I started feeling around my stomach just pressing my fingers into the skin. I can feel like a really hard lump right around where I think my stomach and band is... it is probably around golf ball shaped. It doesn't really hurt, but it is tender when I press on it. I also had a really upset tummy later that night...i never threw up, but it came out of the other end (SORRY!).

I called my doctor on Monday and he said that I probably just ate too much and my tummy is swollen a little bit. They said to call back if it starts to hurt... I was out shopping this evening and it kind of felt irritated... not in pain... just uncomfortable.

Has anyone else experianced this? Is this lump just my band. I have lost 30 pounds so far and lost a lot of inches in my stomach... so maybe I am just feeling things I have never felt under all of my "fluff".

Sorry to ramble... just curious.

My doctor said that the band is generally between the breast area. Was that where you were feeling? If I feel the lower left side of my abdomen, I can feel the actual port.

I know this sounds stupid... but, since you lost weight you could be feeling your diaphram... or even your ribs. Your diaphram feels like a bump right below your breasts right where you think your band is. You couldn't feel it before since you were heavier. I just started to be able to feel mine now.

Is that hardness, right under one of your incisions? I can feel my port, and I have always been able to feel it even right after surgery. My husband has a lap band and only now after losing 100 lbs can we begin to feel in while he is standing up without having to push hard. Whether I am standing up or lying down, my port is very palpable. I kind of like being able to feel it. But check with your doc anyway. Just to be sure.

I'd say it's 90% probability that it's your port. I could feel mine right after surgery (beneath my breastbone about 2 inches) and as I have lost weight it has become more pronounced when I feel it.

Actually what I am feeling is just below my rib cage on the left side of my belly...

I have an uncomfortable feeling also below my rib cage on the left side. It's not painful just uncomfortable. It's not my port. I can feel the port a few inches below my rib. Do you notice when you posture is bad it seems worse?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
