Are you dissappointed in your weight loss since banding?

Recommended Posts

My mom was banded in October of 2006 and she's in her 60's. She's doing great. She's lost over 70 pounds so far which is fabulous considering she's on heart medication (she had a heart attack) and cancer medication (from breast cancer 5 years ago) She's also had two knee replacements which limit her exercise. Through all her challenges, she's really worked the band and is much healthier now. I'm so proud of her for the effort she's made.

Don't be discouraged by your age, you can still do this.

Hi Kathy, I am 61 now but had my lap band at 60. I had a lot of health problems and the majority of them are gone I feel 100% better. I am not able to exercise because I have neuropathy from my knees down. I have lost 88 lbs as of last week. I seem to loose about 2lbs a week. I can't get over how well the surgery went I only spent one night in the hospital and didn't need ay pain medication after. Good Luck!

I'm disapointed in my lack of restriction. Concidering that I haven't had much except for my 1 week when I was too tight, I think I've done OK. It's been much harder to get proper restriction then I expected.

No I am not unhappy with my weight loss. I have lost 1/2 lb per week for over a year now. I have 5.5 ccs in a 10 cc band and have great restriction. I still forget to chew my food on occasion and have to barf but that is not more than a few times every few months. I have arthritis in both joints and although I try to exercise, my heart is not in it. That is why the slow weight loss I guess. I have been able to control my head hunger by eating "hard protein" every 4 hours as suggested by my clinic. If I do, I rarely experience hunger of any sort. As for medications, I have had them reduced or eliminated. Sure would recommend the band to anyone reading this site. Doddie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
