Karen, he used a newer model called the AP Large. He said he uses them now with all his patients. I haven't been hospitized for a long time, and I was amazed at the new technology. I had a hospital gown that self-heated or cooled, and instead of compression hose I had a velco wrap- around that slowly inflated and moved up and down my calves like a massage.

MaryD,

I had the same heated gown and also the same velcro on legs, to massage. Only trouble I had was since I had a pacemaker in the scale they weighed me on can not be used on someone with a pacemaker. It stopped my pacemaker, but thankfully all was fine. Anyone with a pacemaker can not use a scale that measures body fat.

I am not familiar with your band and will have to some research for my support group,do you know who makes it?

Please take care.

Karen

Karen, my doctor made sure I knew the type of LapBand he used as I might need that information in an emergency. However, I do not know who it is made by. Sorry. He did say it was better than the others he had used.

MaryD I missed your surgery date. Sorry. This has been a week from the nether regions. Son in law in hosp with a nonrepairable heart (as we found out when they did the heart cath). Grandaughter in hosp with an allergic reaction to sulfa drug, then again, last night with a leaking spinal tap site. Daughter with a serious Latex allergy, reacting and having to take boocoos allergy meds to stay with son-in-law, and sometimes with gd, when I was not there.

Enough said....

I had a fill on Monday. I think this one is working, but I did a very bad thing last night. We bought Chinese take out. I ate till I was full. Good deal, to start with. But then I left it on the table beside me and picked it up every hour or so and ate some more.

All together I didn't eat as much as I used to. But I broke the rules. I would have been fine if I had got up and put the leftovers in the fridge, but I just kept eating them. I gotta get over doing things like that.

I also had my first PB last night. I actually didn't stop, the first time when I was full. I stopped when I PB'd. Just now remembered that.

Doc said I lost 5 lb in the last 6 weeks. I think there is something wrong with what his nurse recorded, last time, maybe, cause my recordings and my scale haven't moved much. Oh well, maybe I've learned my lesson and will do better this time.

Hang in there Karen and MaryD. Maybe you can learn from my mistakes, too, and not have to do them yourself.

DH just got up, will run,

MaryD Glad to hear your surgery went so well. We had our bands two days apart. Mine was August 4th. I am doing great today! I think it took me a little bit longer because of the two hernia repairs the doc did when he placed the band. What a surprise that was to me. Keep in touch.. we can encourge each other

Hey, Carlene, thanks for the good wishes. I certainly hope things improve with your family. You sure have a lot on your plate, and I don't mean food.< /p>

I am sore and bruised, but able to get out, drive, shop, and all the other good stuff. I have not resumed my Wii Fitness program yet, but I hope to on Monday. I am sure I will make mistakes similar to yours. Some of us are hard-headed and only learn by personal experience. The biggest challenge I have faced so far is learning to slow down when I eat or drink. It just doesn't come natural, and I have to constantly remind myself. Take care of yourself, Carlene.

Karen, my doctor mentioned one hernia after the surgery, but I am not sure if he repaired it. I will have to ask him at my appointment next week. I have noticed that my bruising around the port incision has spread some this morning. I hope I haven't done anything to make it worse. When do you go back for a post op checkup?

Hi everyone,

Glad to hear about all the new people being banded. And all the weight lose people are having also.

It's exciting to hear about the new Band (AP Large), I'll have to do some searching to see what it's all about and only two(2) incisions, that's interesting.

Well, it's that time of the month again. Time for the Gastric Surgery support group meeting. (08-12-08) Still no word on when Medicare will give the hospital the OK for the "Seal of Excellents". I'm almost afraid to go and get bad news again that we well have to wait a little longer. But I'm going any way.

I have gain a couple pounds and getting a little discourged with all this waiting. I sure wish I had known about the hospital close to Oxford, MS that already had it's approvel. I might have gone up there. It's about 2 1/2 to 3 Hrs drive from were I live. Might have been worth it.

But it's too late now because it's getting SO CLOSE now and the people at CMMC are very nice people.

Everyone hang in there; I'll "TRY" to do the same.

Don

I did some searching on "AP Large"; I thing it's this one:

The LAPBAND AP/VANGUARD,<SPAN style="COLOR: #333366; FONT-FAMILY: 'Arial Narrow'"> made by Allergan, is the second oldest band and the only one to have FDA approval. It is the most commonly used band within

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
