Looking for friends in Austin who used Dr Patel from San Antonio

Recommended Posts

I live in Austin TX and have federal BCBS and was approved for the surgery. The insurance approval was easy-the problem was just getting the psych paperwork done. But thats all completed and I have a Jan 28 surgery date at Innova Hospital in San Antonio. Anyone out there have any experience with this hospital or doctor. I was very impressed with him at the seminar and his office staff have been great too. I would love to talk to someone who has had the band put in there. Hope to hear from someone.

Hi, I also have BCBS federal and also will be getting my surgery in San Antonio, well that is if insurance approves it (pray for me). I have a seminar with Dr. Cavazos at NE Baptist in the morning but I noticed that Dr. Patel works at NE Baptist too????? I haven't heard of Innova. So do these Dr's work at different facilities???? So many Dr.s and clinics and hospitals.........UGH! I look forward to reading more of your upcoming posts.

Hi, I had my surgery in Austin with Dr. Ganta. However, a friend of mine had her surgery with Dr. Patel. She loves him, said he is very professional. I think surgeons have several hospitals they can be affiliated with. For instance, with Dr. Ganta I could choose from 4 different hospitals in Austin I could have my surgery at. Good luck to you!

Dr. Ganta is very patient, and takes his time with you. He is also very encouraging. I really appreciate that. I have never, throughout this whole process, felt disappointed with him or his staff. I was sitting in his office one day waiting to see him before my surgery, and was looking through a magazine. I came upon an article about Dr. Ganta. It talked about him and his credentials. It also stated that he is one of the best lap band surgeons in the area. I think he was a "Top Gun" surgeon in medical school or residency. Made me feel more comfortable than I already was.

jojo,

I will let you know when I get the news. I'm sure everyone will know when I get the news! I just want my cell phone to ring and it be her and for her to say "don't change your vacation, you got the approval!"

That's all I want to hear!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
