I was banded on 4/16 and had my first 1cc fill last Thursday 5/28. Before my fill, it always felt like whatevcr I ate was stuck in my throat and I had to burp alot, sometimes bringing up whatever I ate. Now, anything solid gets stuck in my throat/esophagus, and not only do I burp, but there is a production of what I call slime. I'm not sure if this is bile or what. I'm actually thinking of getting an unfil.

Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks!

ah the infamous slime!!! stick with mushy foods for a few days, your usually tighter right after a fill for a few days and eat very slowly and chew chew chew. it take a little bit to get the hang of it. when i eat too fast i get the exact symptoms you're describing. mornings are tighter too, drinking warm tea or decaff helps get the day started.

If it gets to much that you can't stand by all means look into an unfill but chances are in a few days you will be better. i had an overfill once (matter of fact it was my second fill too) but i have a twisted port and not so easy for me to get an unfill, it was game on then. but within a few weeks it got easier and let me tell you that was a record breaking month in weight loss for me too!

I do both. I burp some, and if I eat just a little too much (kind of the pouch version of being stuffed, but not stuck) I will get the hiccups. Lord, I thought I was the only one doing that.

I am extremely sensitive when it comes to fills. My first fill was 6 weeks post-op (3ccs I think). The next day I had to meet the surgeon for an unfill. He took out 1.5ccs, and two weeks later I had another .5cc taken out in the office. I had maybe 1-1.5 ccs total in my band. That took care of business for several months, then in Aug 08 I had a fill of maybe 1cc. Nothing since then until 2 weeks ago. I was getting hungry at about 2 hours and my weight was up a little so he gave me a fill. He asked me how much I wanted, .5 or 1cc. I opted for .5, knowing how sensitive I am. That turned out to be plenty. You really do have to relearn portion sizes and eating more slowly. I have gotten stuck a couple times (sliming and pbs) and I can't eat nearly as much as before the fill, so I have to plan more. I still get the hiccups though, but I have lost maybe 3 lbs since the fill, so I can't complain. Even with problems like sliming, I would do it again in an instant. While I don't like getting stuck, it makes for a great reality check. The food inhaler in me is not dead; it is just under control, and sometimes I need to be reminded.

I burp a lot more, but I can keep them fairly quiet. After a fill (which I have had a lot of) it is worse for amout a week .

i used to burp huge long burps from deep within my stomach that would make homer simpson jealous....now small burps...practically girly...i'm so ashamed of myself

LOL i had to quote this...i used to be THE SAME WAY! I beat out every single guy i knew, and some of the girls I know....now I occasionally do an 'old burp' but most of the time they're these smaller ones...still big in comparison to a regular person's i guess, but seriously small compared to my old ones.....

I probably burp less & smaller ones, but I have this weird 'gurgling' sound sometimes. Like air making its way up or down. When I roll over in bed, it happens every, single time, about 2 or 3 seconds after the roll. It's creepy. Hope my husband isn't creeped out by it! Not exactly a love call!

I got my third fill Mon. to 6cc. I haven't stopped burpping since during my waking hours. Guess things are just trying to find their right place.

Yes I definitely burp since I have been banded. Like someone said previously, it seems like when the food goes through, an air bubble comes up!!

I have been burping for 2 1/2 years since I have gotten my band... it is like "burping" your tupperware... that is when I know I am full...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
