Question: hope to get answered

I have a friend that had bypass and now is thinking of having the lapband. She has gained weighed back because of the meds she is on. The question I have is: will she qualify for the lapband since she already had the other done?

Thanks for your help.

I seriously doubt it!!! That is something she has to discuss with her physcians. Wow I doubt that would be healthy at all. to have bypass already and now trying to get lapband done...The doc might look at her and say.."well if you cant control urself with a bypass then you wont be able to with a lapband" Now that is just my opinion....sorry I just say whatever comes out of my head....I do apologize if you take offense.

maybe she should get her medication adjusted maybe that is the problem and if she cant watch watch she eats with the bypass then i agree with the above person i doubt shell get the lapband.

For what it is worth, my surgeon performs a lot of gastric corrections. He reverses in some way ( I have no idea) the bypass and then puts in a band.

His patients do have a good success rate from what I understand.

I wouldn't think so!

Tell her to call her insurance company (if she's seeking insurance). If not, tell her to call band surgeons and see if she can find one willing to do her.

They're about the only two entities that could possibly answer her question.

I agree, if she can't lose on gastric, lapband isn't going to help either. It is much easier to cheat on lapband than gastric. I have heard of people getting approved for gastric after lapband didn't work.
